August COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY, NEW #1 BEARING SPRING AND WASHER--INSTALL PLANNING INFORMATION: EFFECTIVITY: All 250~C18, C18A, C18B, C18C Compressor Assemblies prior to S/N CAC23635. All 250X20 Compressor Assemblies prior to S/N CAC32147. P-All 250-B15G Compressor Assemblies prior to S/N CAC50066. All 250-B17 Compressor Assemblies prior to S/N CAC60052. REASON: To provide better distributed thrust loading of the #l bearing, thus preventing tendency of the bearing outer race to cock. The spring that provides thrust loading of the #l bearing is replaced with a new spring that has 1 l/2 active coils. The old spring had only one active coil. Simultaneously, the former thrust washer or spacer installed between the spring and bearing outer race is replaced with a cup-type washer.

CW-959 Following availability of the new P/N 6878446 Cup Washer and P/N 6878447 Spring, these CEBs supersede 250 CEB-150 (C18), 250 CEB-1025 (C20), and 250 TP CEB-1015 (B17) which are canceled. These earlier bulletins required installation of the superseded spacer at next overhaul and released a new vibration damper that is to be incorporated on a use stock basis. Therefore, these CEBs are no longer required.

COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY, NEW #l BEARING SPRING AND WASHER-INSTALL ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS: I. Disassemble as necessary to remove the old P/N 6857869 Spring and P/N 6878049 Spacer or P/N 6876548 or P/N 6857868 Washer at the #l bearing. Reassemble using new P/N 6878447 Spring and P/N 6878446 Cupwasher as shown in Figure 1. (Note: The new spring can be identified by its black coloring, the result of black oxide treatment. The old spring is bare steel with a grayish tint from heat treat.) Record compliance with 250 CEB-156 (C18), 250 CEB-1041 (C20), 250 TP CEB-8 (BlSG) or 250 TP CEB-1026 (B17) in the Compressor Assembly (blue pages), Modification Record, Part III of the Engine Log Book.
