August 10, 1972 TURBINE ASSEMBLY, EXTERNAL CHANGES TO PREVENT OIL LEAKAGE AT THE #6 AND #7 SUMP PLANNING INFORMATION: EFFECTIVITY: All 250-C20 engines prior to S/N 820600 (approximately). All 250-Cl8 engines at time of conversion to 250-C20 engines. 250-C20 engines that have been converted from 250-Cl8s (identified by the letter A following the engine serial number)inspect and comply if necessary. REASON: It has been possible for the horizontal fireshield to hold the scavenge sump away from the power turbine support enough to allow oil leakage. Several changes are made in this bulIetin to correct that problem. Changes are as follows:

DESCRIPTION:
A new gas producer turbine support scavenge oil drain fitting is installed which is identical to the old except spot faces are added to obtain bolt head clearance (may be reworked from old part). The fitting mounting bolts are replaced with shorter bolts. A thinner sleeve bushing (spacer) for use under the fitting is released (may be reworked from -1 or -2 bushings currently used). The two 0.255-o. 264 Bracket attachment holes in the horizontal fire shield are elongated to provide for additional adjustment. Also, washers are added at these two locations.

TURBINE ASSEMBLY, EXTERNAL CHANGES TO PREVENT OIL LEAKAGE AT THE #6 AND #7 SUMP INTERCHANGEABILITY: To obtain full benefit from this bulletin, it is recommended that all changes be incorporated simultaneously. COMPLIANCE: APPROVAL: MANPOWER: To be accomplished at next overhaul. FAA-DER Approved. It is estimated that approximately 2 man-hours will be required to accomplish this bulletin at time of overhaul if all possible reworks are done. If new parts are used, man-hours will be reduced.

TURBINE ASSEMBLY, EXTERNAL CHANGES TO PREVENT OIL LEAKAGE AT THE #6 AND #7 SUMP ACCOMPLISHMENT I. INSTRUCTIONS:
During engine overhaul, make the following changes (refer to Figure 1 for location of parts affected): A. Refer to Figure 2. Rework P/N 6846237 Fittings by adding spotfaces as shown. Following rework, obliterate former part number and reidentify as P/N 6877896 per AS478-2Dl or -2E. Refer to Figure 3. Rework P/N 6842308-l or -2 Bushing to -0 by reducing dimension A to 0.130. Identify part as -0 per AS478CL-G. Refer to Figure 4. Elongate two 0.255-o. 264 DIA bracket adjustment holes in P/N 6853290 Fireshield as shown to provide additional adjustment. No reidentification of fireshield is required after rework.

Refer to Figure 1. During reassembly, use parts reworked in Step I, replace two P/N MS9060-06 Bolts with two P/N MS9060-05 Bolts, and add one P/N AN96OClOL Washer under each of two P/N AN104607 Bolts. Record compliance with 250 CEB-1020 in the Turbine Assembly (pink pages), Modification Record, Part III of the Engine Log Book.
