The West Ashley Democrats Nominating Committees Recommended Slate of Officers

(To be voted on at the Annual Meeting 3/12/13)

The Nominating Committee recommends that the Club gladly accept Carol Bullocks willingness to continue as Treasurer and Patti Brassingtons willingness to continue as Secretary. We are confident that the Club recognizes and values their talents, skills, reliability, and steadfastness. Please re-elect them by acclamation. The Committee is pleased to recommend Bob Aubin and Kitt Grach as co-chairs for 2013. We believe that these two natives of New York State will use their complementary abilities for the benefit and betterment of West Ashley Democrats. Each has strong recommendations from those who have collaborated with them previously. Robert G. Aubin III was born in Plattsburgh in northern New York and returned there after serving in the US Navy. His first involvement in politics was with Howard Dean in 2003 and he became the North Country DFA chair in 2006, overseeing Get Out the Vote efforts. He also served a Senate campaign as internet consultant, one of his skills that has also helped WA Dems. After meeting Courtney on a visit to Knoxville, he relocated there in 2007; they married in 2008. Bob continued to work for Democrats in TN and came over to Spartanburg for Barack Obama before the 2008 Presidential Primary. The Aubins moved to Charleston in the summer of 2010 and Bob quickly found and joined WA Dems and got involved in campaigns. He serves the Club as Facebook administrator and is Precinct President and Executive Committeeman for St Andrews 20. He has been co-chair of the CCDP Fund-Raising Committee and of its Platform Committee and is a State Convention Delegate for 2012 & 13. He also worked as a volunteer at the National Convention in Charlotte and both for the Obama campaign and four local campaigns in 2012. Bob would like to focus his and the Clubs 2013 efforts on helping Get Out the Vote for the Democratic nominee for the 1st Congressional District and on bringing back a vibrant Blue Jamboree to showcase the strength of Democrats in the Lowcountry. Sandra C. Grach was born in Manhattan, attended Fordham U., and worked in NYC for many years, first as a buyer and then for 17 years at a British bank. She has always been a bleeding-heart liberal. Residing in SC since 1995, she spent 8 years in Georgetown and then moved to Charleston. She has family down in Beaufort. Kitt was at the very first West Ashley Democrats meeting and has always been one of our most active members. Since 2010 she has been an officer of St Andrews 34 and its representative to the CCDP Executive Committee. She was a Delegate to the SCDP Convention for 2010 & 11, and willingly stepped down to Alternate for 2012 & 13. No volunteer here has been more active than Kitt for GOTV for Democratic efforts since 2010. She is a VoteBuilder Administrator for her precinct and for GOTV generally and spends a lot of time with our phonebanks, but her real love is walking neighborhoods and talking to voters. Kitt would like to help the Club grow in 2013 by focusing on recruiting more members by every means possible.
