Sets
Set ID
A set is a flexible structure for organizing hierarchies and quantities. You can group values or value intervals in a set and several sets into a hierarchy. Values in sets refer to a dimension of a database table. Groups that were created in controlling are also stored technically as sets. They can however, not be displayed or changed in set maintenance. However, you can use groups, for example, in single and multiple sets as well as in Report Writer reports. Set IDs can contain letters, numbers as well as the special characters '_' (underscore) and '-' (hyphen). Please note the following:

The set ID should begin with a letter. The set ID must not contain any blank characters. You cannot use the names 'TRUE', 'T', 'FALSE', 'F', 'NOT', 'AND', 'NAND', ''OR' and 'NOR' as set IDs. The system does not differentiate between upper case and lower case letters.

Sets whose name begins with a number are delivered with the system or are created by special applications. In general set maintenance, you cannot create them, you can only display, change or delete them. If the first number is 0, you can only display the set.

Set class
Sets are used in various applications for flexible storage of hierarchies and value sets. The set class subdivides sets by the following applications: Application Set class FI-SL FI-SL FI-SL CO-OM CO-CEL CO-OPA CO-OM CO-OM EC-PCA CO-ABC CO-PA EC-PCA CO-OM IS-PS IS-PS IS-PS PP PP 0000 Sets 0001 Dynamic sets 0003 Report sets 0101 Cost center groups 0102 Cost element groups 0103 Order groups 0104 Statistical key figure groups 0105 Activity type groups 0106 Profit center groups 0107 Business process groups 0108 Cost object groups 0109 Account groups 0110 WBS element groups 0111 Fund group 0112 Functional area group 0113 Grant group 0201 Sets (capacity evaluation) 0202 Sets (capacity planning) Page: 1 of 4 File: 130470258.doc.ms_office

Set type
There are four set types:

Basic sets contain values and value intervals Single-dimension sets contain basic sets and other single-dimension sets that use the same dimension (the same table field). They are used to create hierarchies. Multi-dimension sets contain basic sets and single-dimension sets that use different dimensions (table fields). Key figure sets contain value types and are only used in reporting.

X flag: Must be unique

Indicator specifying that the set must be unique, that is, it cannot contain any value more than once.

Table SETLEAF
SIGN field in creation of SELECT-OPTIONS tables
This field allows you to enter either "I" or "E".

"I" (Inclusive) means that the single value or range you specified is selected itself. "E" (Exclusive) means that the single value or range you specified is excluded from the selection. The default is "I".

Example
1000 returns everything between 1000 and 5000. D returns D (selects, for example, all domestic customers). 1000 returns everything apart from the values between 1000 and 5000. D returns everything apart from D (selects, for example, all foreign customers). 5000 _ 5000 _ BT EQ BT EQ I I E E

Sets
If you enter several values for a selection criterion and use both "I" and "E", the system always combines all the selections with "I" first and then removes those selections specified with "E".

Example
Suppose you want a list of addresses for the zip code areas 3000 and 6000, but want to exclude large cities. You could make your selection as follows: 3000 6000 3+00 6+00 3999 6999 _ _ BT BT CP CP I I E E

The system first selects the entire ranges and then removes those values that end with '00' (i.e. the round hundred values).

OPTION field in structure of SELECT-OPTIONS tables

In this field, you use the operators to define the entered values as a single value, range or search pattern for the purposes of restricting data selection. The operators work together with the fields lower limit (From) an upper limit (To), as well as the include/exclude criterion (I/E). The available operators are: EQ Equal BT BeTween LE Less Equal GE Greater Equal CP Contains Pattern

EQ
Single value selection. Selects precisely the value you enter. Example: MEIER returns the value MEIER. (Underscores denote blank input fields.) __ EQ _

BT
Interprets the lower and upper limit values entered as a range. Example: 1000 returns all values between 1000 and 2000. 2000 BT _

LE
Interprets the value entered in the lower limit field as the upper limit of a range with no specified lower limit. The limit itself is included in the range. Example: 1000 returns all values smaller than or equal to 1000. _ LE _

GE
Interprets the value entered in the lower limit field as the lower limit of a range with no specified upper limit. The limit itself is included in the range. Example: 1000 returns all values greater than or equal to 1000. _ GE _

CP
The value entered in the lower limit field is masked. Here, "+" stands for one character "*" stands for any number of characters, even none Example:

Sets
M++ER* returns all values that begin with "M", contain the letters "ER" in the third and fourth positions and end with any string of characters. _ CP _

If you use the characters "*" and "+" together with another operator, they are not interpreted as placeholders, but stand for themselves. Example: a*c returns a*c. _ EQ I

Note
For the first entry in the lower limit and upper limit fields, the system automatically sets the suitable operator, if none was entered. Example: 1000 3000 MEI* 5000 _ 5000 _ _ _ _ _ GE _ _ _ _

When you press Enter, this becomes: 1000 3000 MEI* 5000 If you change the lower limit value, the upper limit value or the operator after pressing Enter, you must specify the operator yourself. The same applies if you are assigning values to these fields from a program. _ 5000 _ _ EQ BT CP GE _ _ _ _
