ACTIVITIES OF THE WEEK 1 The First week of community duty were allotted for planning and preparation.

Course oordinator, Ms. Uayan oriented the group with the community and the competency the group has to meet. The group chooses Area 42, Kapiligan St, Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City since most of the members of the group were familiar in that area. On the first day, the group went to the community to conduct a quick ocular visit on the area to find top three problems needed to solve and/or improve. In addition, the group met the Purok leader, Mrs. Daisy Magumpara to have proper introduction, established rapport and asked what are the things the community is having problem in terms of health. She has mention that there are cases of colds and diarrhea. The group reassessed the community before leaving to gather more information about the community such as demographic data, and other relevant data needed to come up with the best programs for the said community. From community, the group went back to UERM to do brainstorming and specify systematically what three problems the community has. The group has come up with waste management, common communicable disease such as coughs and colds, conjunctivitis and diarrhea and fire prevention since the materials of the houses were made in light materials and prone to possibilities of fire. The group utilizes the remaining area in formulating title for each program, action plans, teaching plans and some letters. The group made titles for each program, for waste management (Linis Gandang Style), communicable disease specifically conjunctivitis, diarrhea and coughs and cold (Bata! Iwasan at Lunasan ang Iyong Sakit ), Fire prevention and first aid (Sunog ay Iwasan Ating Responsibilidad ay Tandaan). They divide their selves into three smaller to focus on each topic to be discussed. The group allots first week in preparation for the implementation a week after. The group made a letters, which was revised and approved by our clinical instructor Ms. Uayan to ask the permission of the Purok leader to get her consent to conduct programs in their area. To maximize the limited budget, the group decided to drew all pictures needed for the game picturiffic and pic-a-ture than using print outs. For implementation of the Fire Prevention and Standard First Aid where triangular bandage is needed, the group used retaso and cut it out instead of buying new triangular bandage. Also for the tokens to be given out, the group has

decided to have white elephant where members of the group will find anything valuable things in their house. Those unused things that may not be useful to them but may be useful to others like blankets, baby socks, display figurine, towels, and soap. The group also has prepared visual aids and ICT for each program, to be given out on the implementation week. Prior to implementation, the group presented a quick dry-run to the newly appointed clinical instructor, Mr. Baculli. He gave some point of correction and advice on how to deliver it properly. He also shared his knowledge how to keep the attention of the listeners.

ACTIVITIES OF THE WEEK 2 The week two is basically the implementation week. Before starting the implementations, on the first day of second week, preparations and finalizing all visual aids and ICT in different topics were all done. The group also prepared a tarpaulin to make the presentation more appealing. Here three programs were implemented on three consecutive days. Each day, different members of the group lead. Second day of week two, Ms. Tan, Ms, Bulaong and Ms. Paragua lead the presentation about waste management entitled Linis Gandang Style.

On the third day, the group went to the community together with Ms.Uayan. The group had a hard time inviting people because Mrs. Daisy was not around plus the weather was not good. As what have done the day before, the group offered free blood pressure taking to gain the interest of the residents. After the group had enough resident to participate the program, second set of group members implemented another topic which focuses on Fire prevention and Mitigation, held by Mr. Lagmay, Ms. Frias and Ms. Plata. Theyve discuss Disaster Nursing, particularly Fire Prevention. They also added some details about first aid for 1st and 2nd degree burn, bandaging techniques and carrying or lifting techniques during fire. To start the program, they ask one from the participants to lead a prayer for good religious practice. As they started their health teaching, the other group members helped in

controlling the crowd. Because this program formulated a demo-return demo as their way of evaluation, other members of the group offered help those mothers who brought their child. The group started the health teaching by asking the participant in a short review to their knowledge about Fire Prevention, clarify then proceed to discussion. Ms. Plata and Ms. Frias discussed First aid for 1st and 2nd degree burn then Mr. Lagmay was assigned to do demo about bandaging and carrying. The group also provided them some cloth or linen for them to follow their bandaging technique. Mr. Lagmay instructed them to find somebody who can be their partner for the return demonstration .They listen and watched for those steps together with their partners. After that they followed those steps in their partner. For carrying or lifting techniques, the group used old tarpaulin that will serve as clean mat. Mr. Lagmay showed them techniques on how to carry and lift those persons with disabilities or injured persons during fire. The group asked if there are questions and clarifications and did short evaluation with regards to the health teaching. One of the resident shared her story were her son got an accident. She brought it to manghihilot than applying splint and brought to Orthopedic. The group made closing remarks and asks them to participate for the next group for their health teaching. Lastly, the group of Ms. Arellano, Ms. Young, Ms. Callado and Ms. Datu were assigned to discuss the Communicable disease on the fourth day of the week. Unlike the two previews groups, they didnt have a hard time gathering number of participants since their target group was school aged children. Children were so enthusiast to know that they can participate thru out the program. Ms. Datu ask one of the participants to lead a prayer then introduced the group members of the small group to the participants. Ms. Datu, Ms.Young and Ms Callado discussed the things to know about Coughs and colds, Diarrhea and Conjunctivitis, provided knowledge about this common communicable disease among children in the community and taught those ways to prevent transmission of communicable disease. For ice breaker Ms. Young and Ms. Callado prepared a word search to catch the attention of the participants since school aged are known to have shorter attention-span. The group also taught the participants how to do hand washing. For the evaluation, Ms. Arellano made a game entitled Picturific. She showed 15 pictures and provided 3 Catolina where pictures have to be pasted. She called 15 participants to place each picture in which Cartolina they must belong.

After the game, the group gave some prizes for those who answered some questions correctly and actively participated during the entire program. They also gave ICT for those who participated and also token to the Purok leader who encouraged and supported the group for two weeks. In the end, the group thanked all the residents for giving their ample time to sit with them.
