Employees are one of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools most important priorities. Every day they make a commitment to help our students reach further. To recognize and reward employees efforts and achievements, CMS has created the Employee Excellence Award. The program encourages CMS employees to nominate instructional and non-instructional coworkers for their exceptional efforts in the classroom, community or in an administrative or service position. To nominate a coworker, complete the Employee Excellence Award Nomination form by the fourth Monday of every month and forward it by e-mail to employeerecognitions@cms.k12.nc.us or through courier to Communications (835).

Selection Process:
Identify a coworker and complete and submit the Employee Excellence Award nomination form. The nominator and the nominee and his or her principal or department head will receive an e-mail conrmation that the nomination has been submitted. Each month, the nomination selection committee, which includes parents, employees and business and community leaders, will review and select an award recipient. Within one month of the nomination, the award recipient will receive a Certicate of Employee Excellence from the Ofce of the Superintendent and will be listed on the Employee Excellence Award Web site. Monthly award recipients will receive a gift certicate underwritten by one of the following corporate partners: Marsh Properties Rayford Smith Realty Two Men and a Truck, Inc. Bank of America They also will be recognized on CMS TV, the Intranet and in DirectLine, and will be invited to the annual CMS employee recognition event.

Procedures for Employee Excellence Sponsors

Thank you for partnering with us to celebrate the outstanding employees of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Each month, we will recognize two employees who go above and beyond their duties in CMS. Here are the procedures:

Nominations are solicited from staff. Staff submits nominees by the closing date (Typically, the second Monday of the month) Nominations will be sent electronically to partners. Partners will meet on the Thursday following the submissions in the Education Center (701 E. MLK Blvd.) If they cannot attend, partners will e-mail their top three choices to judith.malveaux@cms.k12.nc.us). At the meeting, partners will choose the top candidates. CMS EE staff will follow up, setting up surprises.
