4. Consider the following scenarios. (a) Would you recommend the use of DSDM, in full or part, for any of these projects? Discuss all four scenarios and clearly state your reasons for your recommendations. (i) A new passenger aircraft has been developed which includes many revolutionary technical factors. Because it is state of the art, a new computerised control system is required. The aircraft is still under development, but it is hoped to go into service sometime in the next five years. The ReadySnack Food Company started as a one man venture and has now expanded to a thriving business delivering fast food to businesses in the south of England. Unfortunately, their administrative system has grown gradually and is now barely coping with the increased pressure. Particular problems have occurred recently in stock ordering, incorrect snack deliveries, invoicing, credit checking and wages. Ron Ready, the managing director, wants a complete new system in place in six months time. He is prepared to commit time and effort to ensure a successful outcome. Expedient Property Developments is a large company employing over 500 people that specialises in providing development plans for industry. A new MIS is required and one of the administrators has suggested that a DSDM team be brought in, in place of the usual in house approach that has not always given satisfactory results. The Board have indicated that they would have no objection in principle but would not be prepared to be involved in the activities of the team nor could they sanction delays to any other work during the development process. New World Records have run a mail order record business for two years, catering to a wide variety of tastes. They now wish to develop a fully computerised business system covering every aspect of their business, including an interactive web site where orders with credit card payments could be taken from anywhere in the world. The owner and staff are anxious for the change and want to take an active part in the process. [20 marks]

(b) What special measures would you recommend to ensure active user involvement in all of the above scenarios? Evaluate the effect of these measures on the successful outcome of an Internet project. [10 marks]
