Performing Udhiya on behalf of Muhammad The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) himself performed Udhiya/Qurbani on behalf of his Ummah and family members - both the living and deceased. (Muslim, Ahmad, Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah and others). In the narration recorded by Imam Muslim, the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) laid down the ram, and slaughtered it saying, In the name of Allah! O Allah, accept from Muhammad, the family of Muhammad and the Ummah of Muhammad. (Sahih Muslim 1967) Moreover, Hanash (Allah be pleased with him) relates that, I saw Ali (Allah be pleased with him) sacrificing two rams. I asked him, What is this? He replied, Verily the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) advised me to sacrifice on his behalf [after his passing], hence I am sacrificing on his behalf. (Sunan Abu Dawud 2783, Sunan Tirmidhi 1495 and Musnad Ahmad) Performing Udhiya/Qurbani [or any other form of Ibadah] on behalf of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) does not mean that he is in need of a favor from us; rather, it is us who benefit. Imam Ibn Abidin (Allah have mercy on him) explains in his Radd alMuhtarthat the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) has the most right over us in terms of us donating rewards of good actions, as a small gesture of thanksgiving and gratitude for what he has done for us in protecting us from going astray. [Add to this the fact that he did not forget his Ummah even when offering Udhiya/Qurbani]. This is similar to reciting Salawat on him and asking Allah to increase his status over and above what he already enjoys. It is for this reason we see Abdullah ibn Umar (Allah be pleased with him) performing Umrah on behalf of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) after his passing away without being instructed to do so by the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace). Likewise, it is established that some of the early Muslims would perform Hajj, complete the Quran, and sacrifice on behalf of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace). AS FAR AS THE MONTH OF DHULHIJJAH IS CONCERNED: - The Prophet said: There is no day which is more beloved to Allah, than Him being worshipped on the 10 days of Zill Hijjah. Each fast of these days is equivalent in reward to the fasting of an entire year and standing in prayer at night is equivalent to the standing in prayer on the night of Qadr [Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah]

- Ibn Umar (radiallahu anhumaa) reported that the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam), said: There are no days during which good deeds are greater or more beloved to Allah than these ten days. So recite more often the Tahleel (Laa Ilaaha Illallah), Takbeer (Allahu Akbar), Tahmeed (Alhamdulillah). [Imam Ahmad] - Ibn Abbaas, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) said: There are no days during which good deeds are more beloved to Allah than these days; meaning the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. They inquired: Not even Jihad in the cause of Allah? He said: Not even Jihad in the cause of Allah, unless one goes out for Jihad sacrificing both his life and property and returning with neither. [Al-Bukhaari] - I have hope from Allah that He would pardon the sins of the previous and the following year - The TAKBEER has alsao be recited after every salah. Abdullah used to recite the Takbir from the Fajr salah on the day of Eid to the Asr salah of the day of Nahr (animal sacrifice). The TAKBEER is as follows: - ALLAHU AKBAR ALLAHU AKBAR LA ILAHA ILALLAH WALLAHU AKBAR ALLAHU AKBAR WA LILLAH HILHAMD - Ali used to recite the Takbeer after the Fajr salah on the day of Arafah to the Asr salah of the last days of Tashreeq. [THIS MEANS THREE DAYS] this is a forgotten Sunnah. Let us do this in the masjid, especially. Even when you pray alone at home, the men should say this loudly and the women softly. - A brother brought the following issue to my attention: People are careless when leaving the masjid after the Salah. They walk in front of people and do not realize that are sinful. Prophet said: If the one crossing in front of a praying person knew what sin is upon him, it would be better for him to wait forty than walk across." Abu Al-Nadhr (one of the narrators of the hadith) said: I don't know whether he said forth days ,months, or years. - It is my request to the brothers and sisters that they be careful when they walk. Also, to the brothers that pray their Sunando not pray where it will cause an inconvenience to others..i.e, especially in the back.if possible leave some gaps so that others may walk by if the need be. - I mentioned last week of 14 shares in a camel, the correct number is 7! - Make dua for brother Muhammad Amir who is sick.
