Indifference of Bangladeshi young generation to Bangladeshi Cinema: Reasons and Recommendations

Research Methodology Research design: Bangladeshi cinema, a major field of entertainment, is depreciating
its value and losing its viewer increasingly. To analyze this situation this research paper is designed as descriptive one along with some characteristics of normative research. Through this method the report mainly focuses on young generations view on why they are not interested to contemporary Bangladeshi cinema and their expectation from this. This report also makes a recommendation on what steps can be formulated to retain this huge amount of lost viewer of Bangladeshi cinema and attract new.

Sources of data: To increase the reliability and quality of this report both primary and
secondary data have been used. Primary data: The main sources of primary data is the interview with 100 students of different universities of Bangladesh including Jahangirnagar University, East West University, Eastern University and Stamford University, through formal questioner and informal interview with some owners of production houses, cinema hall owner, director and others professionals and expert of this sector. Authors for being the citizen of Bangladesh their personal experience and discussion with different professionals also uses as the primary sources of data. Secondary data: In collecting the secondary data various published sources like Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), Bangladesh film archive, cinema reports, different literatures on cinema and some data form World Wide Web (www) have been used.

Data collection: For the primary data collection purposes formal questioner (added in
the appendix) is used and for selecting the respondent judgment sampling method has been used by asking the respondent if he/she has any experience with the Bangladeshi cinema like the quality aspect, present condition etc. So here the personal experience about the Bangladeshi Cinema of the respondent has been used as the judgmental criteria.

Data analysis: The collected data have been analyzed from mainly the actors
perspective, market perspective and tried to relate the analysis with the Michael Porters value chain model for attaining Bangladeshi young generation more to Bangladeshi cinema by developing the current quality and other judgmental characteristics. For the improvement of the present situation by better decision making, after analysis these data will be made accessible to concerned stakeholders like cinema producers, film directors, hall owners, other researchers etc.
