POSITION SUMMARY: The Server / Storage Engineer performs the implementation of Enterprise server & storage across Microsoft Windows platforms, Linux & AIX is a plus. EDCi is looking for an Experienced IBM X-series and Mid-range Server / Storage Engineer with Operating System / Virtualization implementation experience. EDCi leverages IBM Mid-range storage solutions such as DS5000, DS4000, and DS3000 series systems. Candidates must have strong customer focus and excellent interpersonal skills.

This role is primarily focused on the items outlined below:

Provide in-depth knowledge of industry standard server blade and rack-dense server technologies. Interfacing with architects, virtualization engineers, and networking engineers to perform micro design for data center solutions. Macro design is completed by the Architecture team. Perform planning and micro design of server / blade, storage, and backup infrastructures that satisfy client business requirements. Maintain, configure, and installation of Blade & SAN infrastructure, maintain current microcode levels, research and plan microcode updates. Implement new hardware, microcode, SAN fabric, and related responsibilities. Implements SAN Volume Controller services (SVC) including metro/remote mirroring technologies and cluster configurations. Perform Blade & SAN tuning and performance evaluation including assessment / evaluation of SAN health. Review system and hardware environments to proactively resolved issues and anticipate problems.

Perform storage integration using Citrix XenServer / XenCenter & VMWare. Implementation of virtual server technologies, specifically VMWare & Citrix XenServer, to support Blade & SAN implementations. Provide expert level knowledge of operating system architecture, implementation, configuration and performance management to optimize system reliability and performance (Microsoft Windows Server 2003-2008). Install upgrades and patches on operating systems software and hardware (e.g. firmware) and replace failed hardware components as appropriate through RMA process. Implement storage and backup systems and test restore / recovery operations. Coach / Mentor clients as to optimized backup schedules and file / server-level restores. Troubleshoot, maintain, and support of blade systems, SANs, SAN-based arrays, multiported arrays, mid-size to large storage arrays, and backup environments. Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting to investigate problems and implement appropriate resolutions. Through different mediums including seminars, technical journals and certifications, keep knowledge current. Develop and document policies, procedures associated training plans for systems administration and appropriate use. Develop and support needs system plans, systems documentation, inventories, and other artifacts as need. Excellent interpersonal skills including: verbal communication, written communication, team focus/collaboration. Successfully deliver projects, meet project milestones and communicate issues/risks. Associates Degree in IT related field required, Bachelors Degree preferred,. 5-7 years relevant IT experience. Experience with either IBM SAN or Blade technologies is required. 1+ year experience in IBM X-Series / Blade Center hardware, IBM SAN (Storage Area Network) and associated software components. 3+ years storage management/administration / engineering, or related experience. Strong technical knowledge and experience with Virtualization technologies such as Citrix XenServer or VMWare. Strong technical knowledge and experience with Microsoft Server operating systems. Strong knowledge and hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience. Ability to meet milestones and work independently when required.
