The Ledino range offers some undeniable breakthroughs in the field of (LED) lighting for the consumer market. The Ledino LED module boasts a light output that rivals well known conventional lightsources such as the standard 40W and 50W halogen bulbs, while maintaining an operational life span of up to 20 years and saving 80% energy. Which types of LEDs are used? For the complete Ledino range, Philips LumiLed Luxeon Rebel LEDs are used. Luxeon Rebels are the smallest surface mountable powerLEDs available today, with the industrys best lumen per watt package. The Luxeon Rebels are mostly integrated in a puck, but also as a stand alone light source in luminaires where lower light output is desired. What is a LED puck? The LED puck is a uniquely developed solution by Philips combining 3 Luxeon Rebels in a synthetic and aluminum housing. This technique enables an optimal light output and a 100% uniform light color. What is the lifetime of a LED? Luxeon Rebels have usable lifetimes of 50,000 hours or more. In combination with the electronic driver the luminaire will have a lifetime of at least 20 years. What is a LED? A light emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor device that emits visible light. What is a PowerLED? In the last 10 years, considerable progress has been made in LED technology, making it possible for it to be used as a light source for illumination purposes. Until the early 1990s, however, LEDs were only possible in red and green. When the first blue LED was developed, it became possible to create white light. The big difference with todays powerLEDs is that they have much higher light output than their predecessors.

To classify the different types of white light, the term color temperature is applied. This color temperature is measured in Kelvin (K). The lower the Kelvin number, the warmer the color temperature (more yellow-red). The higher the number, the cooler the color temperature (more white-blue). The guarantee of the best LED quality

Light color uniformity To produce white light, the light of blue LEDs is passed through yellow phosphors. The composition of the phosphor determines the light color. By a very careful LED selection during production, we manage to create appropriate white LED light color among all our LED modules, to ensure color uniformity across our complete portfolio. Philips LED luminaire lifetime LED lighting offers an extremely long life. Philips high-power LEDs have a usable lifetime of 50,000 hours or more. In combination with the electronic driver, the luminaire will have a lifetime of 20,000 hours (20 years on the basis of 3 hours/day) providing full light performance.
CRI
Color Rendering Index The CRI is a quantitative measure of the ability of a light source to reproduce the colors of various objects accurately in comparison with an ideal or natural light source.
Heat management Good thermal management is essential to conserve the LED light quality and light output over time. Philips cares about the design of the products' heat sink and the right material selection. By taking care of those elements, it ensures the delivery of great, durable products to consumers.
Classification of CRI properties is based on the Ra range: Ra 90 - 100 Excellent color rendering properties Ra 80 - 90 Good color rendering properties Ra 60 - 80 Moderate color rendering properties
Philips LEDs deliver well on red wave lengths resulting in a CRI of 85 typical.
Drivers Philips introduces a new driver type allowing better dimming behaviour of its products. The light level can be dimmed up to 5%. These drivers are compatible with trailing edge dimmers (see light level adjustability paragraph).
Light level adjustability (dimming) Most Philips LED luminaires are dimmable, which means that their light level can be adjusted with a dimmer switch. The dimming indication is always mentioned on the product packaging and in the manual that is delivered in the box. Most Philips LED luminaires can be dimmed by means of an external trailing edge low voltage wall dimmer (not included in the product box). These dimmers are compatible with electronic (capacitive) transformers and LED drivers. Capacitive load indications are marked with a "C" on the dimmer. Dimmers with dual compatibility with resistive load and capacitive load, marked with "RC" on the dimmer, will be compliant too. Philips products cannot be dimmed with Leading edge dimmers.
Energy efficiency The LED lighting technology used in Philips luminaires is highly energy-efficient (7.5 W module produces 350 Lumen). As a result, every luminaire conserves energy, helping consumers to save money on their electricity bills and contribute to preserving the environment. For home lighting that's energyefficient and provides great light in a range of contemporary designs, look for Philips LED products.
