Leccin 27 h : Cmo predecir y hablar del tiempo

Para expresar el tiempo meteorolgico se utilizan basicamente tres construcciones: verbo relevante cuando lo hay, adjetivo o sustantivo: Its raining. - Est lloviendo. It's not hot outside. - No hace calor fuera. There will be sunshine at midday. - Har sol a medioda. De los pocos verbos que tratan del tiempo, tanto rain (llover), como snow (nevar) y hail (granizar) son regulares: it + verbo It snowed every day last week. - Nev todos los das la semana pasada. Look! Its hailing. - Mire! Est granizando. It will rain on Friday. - Llover el viernes. Cuando no existe un verbo relevante se expresa el tiempo mediante un adjetivo y el verbo be. De nuevo observe el uso del sujeto 'vacio it: It + be + adjetivo o frase equivalente It was windy this afternoon. - Estuvo ventoso esta tarde. It's very foggy today. - Hay mucha niebla hoy. It will be extremely cold in March. - Har un fro extremo en marzo. Tambin se puede utilizar un sustantivo para hablar

del tiempo mediante la misma construccin con el verbo be, pero ahora con el sujeto indefinido there: There + be + sustantivo o frase equivalente There was fog in the south. - Hubo niebla en el sur. There are strong winds this morning. - Hay vientos fuertes esta maana. There will be clouds over London. - Habr nubes sobre Londres. Fjese de nuevo cmo rain, snow y hail pueden ser tanto verbos como sustantivos: There will be hail tomorrow.It will hail tomorrow. Habr granizo maana.Granizar maana. There will be some snow tonight.It will snow tonight. Habr algo de nieve esta noche. Nevar esta noche. There will be some rain later. It will rain later. Habr algo de lluvia ms tarde. Llover ms tarde. Y recuerde que snow y rain tambin tienen un adjetivo relevante: What a rainy day! - Que da ms lluvioso!

Today (Sunday): A cold day with frost over most of the UK in the morning, forming again in the east during the evening. Many areas will stay largely dry with sunny spells throughout the day. However, there will be a few isolated showers along northern and eastern coasts of Britain, wintry in places. Northern Ireland and south-western parts of Britain will have a cloudier start to the day with light rain gradually spreading in from the west. Rain will reach westernmost parts of Scotland by the evening. Tonight (Sunday night): Rain in western areas will steadily spread eastwards through the night, often turning heavy. Snow will fall ahead of the rain in northern England and Scotland, but this will clear away from most places as the rain spreads in. However, snow will remain in the Scottish Highlands. UK Outlook (Monday and Tuesday): Rain and snow will clear eastwards on Monday, allowing sunny spells to develop in most places. However, there will be scattered showers too, mainly in the north and west, turning wintry over Scottish hills. Not as cold as recent days. Tuesday will be bright and breezy with spells of sunshine and scattered showers. The showers will be most heavy and frequent in the north and west, but falling as hail or snow in northern Scotland.
