HANDOVER Jenny introduced Dr Proscovia Kabanda-Iga (Pross) to the team as hopefully she will be taking over Jennys role when she retires in March 2013. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING Matters Arising Provision of Radio Aids/Specialised Equipment In future this may be written in to a childs Statement and may have to be provided by the school. There are children who do not have a Statement so it is unclear how this would be managed in the future. Peterborough Sensory Support Services Still see children with unilateral losses for monitoring. May only be a once a year visit for school aged children. Policy may change in the future. Suzanne has not yet met the Audiology Team re going through the early monitoring protocol etc. Provisional plan for Suzanne to go to an Audiology Audit Day. Sensory Support Service News The team has now moved to Northminster House. Still no landline or internet connections so having to use Bayard Place for computers and the telephone number 454460 goes to a mobile phone. Parental Satisfaction Survey with Sensory Support Services Tersea Quail is doing a parental survey which is a short version of an NDCS Survey Form. Teachers of the Deaf at Middleton As Craig has left the work is being covered by Teresa, who goes on a Thursday afternoon, and Liz Skinner, who is working two days a week. NEW AGENDA Items 1.0 Audiology News Anushri has joined the team (part time) but is going on maternity leave on 16th October. Speech and Language Therapy Secondary School Children Jenny did write to Debbie Chamberlain about the lack of speech and language therapy for secondary school children but has received no reply apart from the fact it is being looked at. Jenny will write again. ACTION: JM NOTE: Jenny has emailed Debbie Chamberlain again.

Draft QA Report Sensory Support Service will make sure they respond to any points. We can discuss the final report at the next CHSWG Meeting. NHSP Screening Team News The team is now fully staffed. Everyone on the team has had their appraisals. There has been some feedback from parental surveys and it seems that the antenatal information about the hearing screening is not working so well. Pregnant mums get the information and leaflets so early on in the pregnancy that it seems they do not fully understand the test when it is done. The screening team will look at this with the midwives. Local DCS News Dean reported the following figures: Membership:113 families and deaf adults One deaf parent 104 deaf children 89 siblings 13 professionals Total of 322 members Dean then fed back on news and forthcoming events.
