A. Background/Context The New York Philharmonic Orchestra consists of 106 musicians, the most famous classical musical group in United States experience stress in their work. There are different of types of stressors enumerated in the case which were experienced by the Philharmonic Orchestra. Namely, (1) physical demands due to repetitive injuries, (2) conflict between personal and professional roles, (3) demanding schedule, (4) strain of working closely in small groups and (5) responsibility to purchase or care for an instrument worth thousands or millions of dollars. But they also find ways to relieve themselves from stress, which of some they even execute at time of playing their designated instruments specifically alleviating the string of sitting, some practice relaxation and strengthening routines to reduce injuries and others exercise to become fit that they believe reduces stress. They still manage their stress especially as them being musicians with the nature of loving music. B. Point of view Based on the Philharmonic Orchestras case as professional musicians, they ought to observe themselves and other co-musicians to how the stress affects their working environment and each other. The different sources of stress specified in the case are absorbed by each individual in their own ways, each of them have different perspective, personalities and behavior. C. Problem Statement Main: Why do Philharmonic Orchestra experienced profession under stress? Sub: In what other ways the Philharmonic possibly will get to reduce stress? D. Objectives 1. After identifying the sources of stress, the Philharmonic must remove themselves away from stressors. 2. The Philharmonic Orchestra should have a work-life balance.

3. Assess how the Philharmonic Orchestra copes up with stress. 4. Philharmonic Orchestra should make a work environment that suits to every musician. 5. Each and every musician should have control over stress. E. Areas to Consider 1. Difficulty in communication Others have problem in working closely in small groups; a reason to create a better working environment, proper communication is a must. 2. Different personalities Each and every musician has got to understand each other even if they have different personalities to avoid conflicts. 3. Work-life balance The Philharmonic Orchestra should have the ability to arrange their workday around personal obligations most especially to their families. F. Alternative Courses of Action 1. The Philharmonic Orchestra should improve the way they manage their stress to avoid it. 2. The person or organization who supervises the Philharmonic Orchestra should conduct a program that is customized based on individuals need to enlighten them. 3. Improve work environment that would alleviate them from stress. 4. The Philharmonic Orchestra should take jobs that have the traditional schedule. G. Recommendation /Conclusion/Action Plan Stress can be at any level. It doesnt depend on positions or tenure. Everybody is vulnerable. Some people thrive on a busy lifestyle and are able to cope well with life crises. Other people feel tensed or stressed by the slightest deviation from their set daily routine. Many people fall somewhere in between, but may have periods when levels of stress increase. The Philharmonic Orchestra should improve the way they manage their stress to avoid it. They should first identify the sources of stress which was been given in detailed in the case. If they have taken steps to reduce the stress they have been experiencing, they must assess if it is enough or they have to go farther. Avoid unnecessary stress, adjust the situation and adapt stressor if cannot be avoided. Make time for relaxation; remember it is okay to do nothing, take time for yourself and youre

your mind from thoughts which depresses you most especially have a quality time to ones closest to your hearts. Connect with others, to those who you been with everyday, make a good relationship, they could also be of assistance to evade stress. And indeed, you will find yourself laughing. Effective time management is a primary means to a less stressful life. One must have control over the situation to reduce stress because it is you who will determine if you will change the situation.
