Your Voice, Your Vote.

Our vision and goal is to first and foremost advocate and support the student voice. By improving areas of safety, innovation, community engagement, and student life our platform stands to uphold a commitment to solidarity, service, and success as outlined in Xaviers Jesuit mission.

Improve Campus Safety o Student-Run Taxi Service o Make use of the WeCars on campus to safely transport students to offcampus locations such as Kroger or Walgreens to more easily grocery shop and access prescriptions, as well as to shopping centers such as Rookwood and Hyde Park Plaza for more dining and shopping options. This service would also allow for transport to and from religious services during the course of the weekend, based on the assessed student wants. o This service will allow openings for on-campus jobs for students, who will go through safety checks and training. o Students will be able to pay per ride or purchase a pass with a predetermined number of rides that will be stamped with each use. With this, we will be able to physically and most accurately track ridership. Collaboration with Xavier Police and Auxiliary Services will help to make this service feasible. Expand Innovative Learning Tools o Winter Term o Students would have the option to study abroad and earn course credit during the pre-existing winter break. o With the four weeks students get off from school, interested students would have the option to complete a self-directed educational project of their choice. This would be an optional way to bridge the fall and spring semesters. o Faculty and students would be able to participate in intensive exploration of unique subjects in nontraditional ways. This could include on campus studies, study abroad trips, internships, or independent studies. To enact this change we have been in contact with the administration. We will be looking into what other universities with flourishing winter session programs are doing and communicating with our Study Abroad Office at Xavier, as well as faculty who already lead such visionary trips such as Rabbi Abie Ingber and Dr. Colella.

o Online Learning o Research and collaborate with other universities to increase the use of online learning and actively engage nontraditional students. We believe that online learning is currently enhancing the potential for academic growth and we hope to pursue how this option can be best utilized at Xavier, while still maintaining a strong campus culture. This would include talking with Provost, Dr. Chadwick, to see which courses can feasibly be offered online along with further collaboration with administration to achieve a plan for Xavier with relation to online learning in the future. o Coordinating Core Curriculum Assessment and Academic Advising o Evaluating the effectiveness of academic advising and the Core Curriculum from the perspective of the undergraduate student with attention to voice student concerns. Foster Sustainability and Community Engagement o Community Greenhouse o Set up a ninety foot by twenty-four foot greenhouse along space allotted behind the Commons Apartments, specifically closest to the corner of Musketeer Drive and the north wing of the Commons Apartments. o The green house would start with potted plants cared for by Physical Plant and students in unison. This is a great alternative to those already involved in sustainability, specifically with the Nexus Garden to continue his/her passion during cold winter months as well. o With expansion, we hope that students and community members alike will be able to grow plants and produce of his/her choice for consumption and distribution. o The space would also contain benches and tables in which students could study, meet, or relax. o Xavier Farmers Market o Hold a bi-monthly farmers market on campus Saturdays from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. to enhance the solidarity of the greater Xavier community with our neighbors in Evanston, Avondale, and Norwood. o Local vendors will be invited to sell fresh fruit, vegetables, crafts, and other goods to students and community members.

o This pursuit would also tie in our production and sustainability efforts with regards to the Greenhouse. Students would be encouraged to sell what they have grown and have a stand during market days containing these products or club promotional materials. Collaboration and cooperation from Sustainability, Xavier Police, and Auxiliary Services would be necessary to enact the market. The University would also have to obtain permits for the market, as well as work hand-in-hand with other local markets to coordinate the best times and accessibility for optimal attendance. o Community Collaborations o Integrate more opportunities for students and faculty to unite with peers in our neighboring community, such as Evanston and Norwood in an effort to forge mutual-inspiring relationships between our student body and the place in which we live. o This would include grassroots work with our neighbors to create a system of service and fellowship. Such collaborative efforts would both immerse Xavier students in the greater community that exists beyond campus, as well as allows community members to engage in on-campus activities. We will need to be in contact with pre-existing on-campus groups that reach out into the community such as Community Organizers, STAR, Connexions, and with campus entities such as the Eigel and Womens Centers. Improve Campus Life and Involvement o Volunteerism o Xavier students have reached out and consistently asked for ways to find out about service going on around campus and in the community. We hope to highlight the pre-existing service search engines, complements of the Eigel Center that is featured on the My XU Portal. This feature has a plethora of useful information on how students can get active if they only knew more about it! o In addition, we hope to incorporate a volunteer board, much like a ride board within our office that students will be able to post on for clubs in need, and access if interested in doing service with campus organizations. o Spirituality o As a Jesuit university, we hope to instill a greater sense of interfaith community and engagement among students and around campus.

Working with the Center for Faith and Justice, Office of Interfaith Community Engagement, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs along with Bellarmine Chapel, we hope to create more ways for students to connect such as implementing another faith celebration to parallel the falls Spirit Celebration.

o Accessibility o Create an Accessibility Advisory Board made up of a collection of students, faculty, and administrators that would work to push for more accessible options across campus, within buildings, and for new construction plans. We would contact the College of Social Science, Health, and Education and the Learning Assistance Center to help initiate this committee. o Improve Dining Options o Be in contact with Tom Barlow about the current situation of on-campus dining, as well as plans for new building locations. We would love to facilitate a way to have student input on possible new options. o Xavier Phone App o Add to or re-create the Xavier smart phone application to include more useful programs for students such as dining options, a volunteer hours log for tracking club collaboration, class registration, and study hour log. Help from Tim Bucher and Annette Marksberry would be necessary to implement these new features. o Small Project Goals o Printing stations in each residence halls o More accessible color printing for all students o Expand upon the pre-existing grill stations on campus to include more grills and appropriate seating to encourage students and clubs to host events or have a fun barbeque with friends. o Monthly electronic newsletter to improve communication between administration and students o Expand upon Club Relation Committees Club Council forum o Create an Executive open door policy to facilitate accountability and communication o Create an Executive Blog where students and administration alike can keep up-to-date on SGA happenings and progress as we act as liaisons between the two

Lunch and Learn hold a monthly lunch where students can get to know us better and learn more about SGA, while asking questions and voicing opinions and concerns.
