ABOUT US:
News for Jaggi Vasudeva Wordsworth-Eco Club The students have no access to any environmental view and care where we have be providing the background with environmental issues and awareness of these issues is necessary for a knowledgeable and engaged civil society. Today man is living in the world of crises, social, economic, political and value crises are some of the threats which the humanity faces and these threats are quite alarming. Added to this, in the recent decades, the environmental crisis has become another important factor which has made everyone in the world to think of its gravity. (Ghanta and Digumarti, 1998).

informed decisions and take action based on experience as well CIVIL DEPT. as data. Within this process, environmental curricula have progressively been integrated into education standards. The majority of developing nations have based their development process on the exploitation of nature and its resources .As a results, our country faces a number of environmental problems. Due to seriousness of these problems, their solution will need initiative developed inside the teaching systems, helping million of people to understand the environment and thereby use it rationally. The aims of Jaggi Vasudeva Wordsworth-Eco Club are to raise peoples awareness of their environment, to involve students in environmental issues and value judgments that need to be made at a personal level with the object.

Objectives
Motivates the students to keep their surrounding clean and green by under taking plantations of trees. Sensitize the students to minimize the use of plastic bag and motivate them to imbibe proper habits and lifestyles for minimizing waste generation. The students have to come up with innovative ideas on gardening. To create a landscape/garden on a base patch of land using composts to fertilize it. To take an active part to clean up the parks, open spaces, streams, rivers lakes. To increase awareness on importance of protected areas. To motivate the students in participation for preservation and conservation of environment. Seminars/Symposia/Workshops.

Personal and Social Perspectives

This strand helps students formulate a basic understanding of and implied actions for many issues facing our society. The fundamental concepts that form the basis for this strand include:
Environmental Quality - Students should develop an appreciation for factors that influence their need and responsibility to maintain
environmental quality, including waste disposal and recycling of limited natural resources. The ability to make appropriate decisions based on cost-benefit and risk analysis is an integral part of the study of earth. "Many factors influence environmental quality. Factors that students might investigate include population growth, resource use, population distribution, over-consumption, the capacity of technology to solve problems, poverty, the role of economic, political, and religious views, and different ways humans view the earth." Natural and Human -Induced Hazards - The study of earth and environmental science encourages students to investigate the effects of natural phenomena and human induced changes in natural systems on society. Appropriate examples include natural phenomena such as earthquakes and human-induced changes such as increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Students will acquire the ability to assess natural and human induced hazards - ranging from relatively minor risks to catastrophic events with major risk, as well as the accuracy with which these events can be predicted.

Science and Technology in Local, National, and Global Challenges - Along with the need to understand the causes and
extent of environmental challenges related to natural and man-made phenomena, students should become familiar with the advances proper application of scientific principles and products have brought to environmental enhancements.

Liquefied petroleum gas is simply propane or butane, is a flammable mixture of hydrocarbon gases used as a fuel inheating appliances and vehicles.LPG is a gas at normal temperature and pressure. The gas is
compressed into a liquid by application of moderate pressure. This action of applying pressure reduces the volume by approximately 240 times. When the pressure is released, which is done by opening the cylinder valve, the liquid immediately becomes gas. The 2001 census of India mentions that 17.5% of Indian households or 33.6 million Indian households use LPG as cooking fuel. Of this number, 76.64% of such households were from urban India making up 48% of urban Indian households as compared to a usage of 5.7% only in rural Indian households. LPG is heavily subsidized by the government of India. The appliance that run on LPG are highly efficient. LPG is very clean gas and is also quick, convenient and safe.

It is cheaper than most other fuels except perhaps kerosene but it does greatly outweigh the marginal extra cost. It is delivered by gas agency directly at home. LPG is albeit considered to be a clean fuel, there is some pollution which can be associated with the use of LPG. To understand this, let us take a look at the emission from Liquefied Petroleum Gas. LPG produces about 45% less carbon dioxide when compared to diesel. It also produces 33% less carbon dioxide when compared to petrol. LPG is also said to result in lesser hydrocarbon emissions. It is known to be lesser by almost 70% in comparison with diesel and 40% in comparison with petrol. Also, sealed LPG tanks are also known to eliminate spillage and it is known that refuelling LPG is a major source of hydrocarbon emission. To safeguard this, special valves meant for refuelling are suggested. When LPG is used in vehicles, they are known to produce lesser Nitrogen Oxide. When compared to petrol, it is lesser by almost 82%. The best comparison is said to come from diesel. LPG is considered to be 99% better in terms of emitting nitrogen dioxide. LPG results in 63% lesser carbon monoxide and this is also a great advantage. Again, going back to vehicular emission, LPG is considered favourable since it has a lower proportion of benzene as well as butadiene, when compared to those vehicles which run on gasoline. There are many green activists who argue that LPG cannot be termed as a green fuel since it results in the emission of carbon dioxide on burning. Yet, when we compare LPG to other fuels, it is found to be truly better for the environment. It does not result in very high proportion of CO2 emissions. LPG also burns cleaner than diesel or petrol. The argument for or against LPG still continues. What is required to be remembered that LPG is also a non renewable source of energy and hence, the world over, people should always keep in mind that it needs to be used optimally and judiciously.
