Sometimes one just has to hit the links dressed in their Sunday best. Or sometimes you just need a warm knitted hat to keep your ears warm. Either way, this golf beret/stylish beanie is perfect for such a day on the golf course, or anywhere else for that matter. And of course, what would a golf beret/ stylish beanie be if not without the glorious pom pom on top? This creative hat can be knitted in a DK or worsted weight yarn and has limitless possibilities in color choices. Its fun, unique, and best of all, a very quick knit!

Materials
For single color: 1(S/M) or 2(L) skeins Blue Sky Alpacas Suri Merino, 60% Baby Suri 40% Merino, 164 yards/ 100 grams in color Fog 413 *note: for a fuller pom pom, youll need a second skein for size S/M For two tone colors: [MC] 2(S/M) or 2(L) skeins Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Tweed, 80% Peruvian Highland Wool 20% Donegal Tweed, 110 yards/50 grams in color Brass Heather [CC] 1(S/M) or 1(L) skeins Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Tweed, 80% Peruvian Highland Wool 20% Donegal Tweed, 110 yards/50 grams in color Dill Heather Size US 7 (4.5 mm) 16 circular needle or size to obtain gauge Set of size US 7 (4.5 mm) dpns Size US 6 (4 mm) 16 circular needle or size smaller than gauge sized needle Stitch marker Cable needle Tapestry needle Tape measure Pom Pom maker (optional) Scissors

Abbreviations & Stitch Guide


c2b - slip next stitch onto cable needle and hold in back, knit next stitch, knit stitch off of cable needle. c2f - slip next stitch onto cable needle and hold in front, knit next stitch, knit stitch off of cable needle. dpns - double pointed needles

k - knit k2tog - knit the next two stitches together. m1 - lift up the bar before the next stitch front to back with the right needle and place onto the left needle, knit into the back of the stitch. mb (make bobble) - knit into the front & back & front of stitch, turn, purl 3, turn, k1, k2tog and pass k stitch over.
p - purl p2tog - purl the next two stitches together. rep - repeat st(s) - stitch(es) t2b - slip the next stitch onto a cable needle and hold in back, knit next stitch, purl stitch of cable needle. t2f - slip next stitch onto cable needle and hold in front, purl next stitch, knit stitch from cable needle.

Instructions
With smaller size circular needles and CC (or just MC if knitting all in one color), cast on 90 [100] sts, place marker, and join in the round. Be careful to not twist sts. Knit one row with CC in 1x1 rib as *k1, p1, rep from *. Switch to MC and continue in 1x1 rib for an inch. Switch to larger size circular needle. Continue in purl stitch until piece measures 8 inches (20 cm). Begin decrease rounds as follows & switch to dpns when it gets too tight on circular: Round 1 - *p8, p2tog rep from * Round 2 - *p7, p2tog rep from * Round 3 - *p6, p2tog rep from * Round 4 - *p5, p2tog rep from * Round 5 - *p4, p2tog rep from * Round 6 - *p3, p2tog rep from * Round 7 - *p2, p2tog rep from * Round 8: - *p1, p2tog rep from * Round 9 - *p2tog, rep from * (12 sts. for size S/M, 15 sts for size L) Break yarn, thread thru stitches, and pull tight.

Finishing
Weave in loose ends. Make a pom pom in CC or MC yarn and secure to top of hat.
