<Operation> 100 mseconds after transmission is activated, the transceiver transmits the first 3 tones from the 1st - 3rd digit of the RX Address and the following 2 tones from the selected Status Code, in the EEA Tone format. Each tone duration is 40 mseconds. 50 mseconds after sending the tones, it returns to receive mode. SEND ^V ptr Output the RX Code digit that is selected by the "ptr" pointer. Press the [Receive Entry] key to select ^V code. You can change the RX Address code to receive and transmit. ptr: Pointer 1 - 8 <Example> Encode Format: TXS DEL 100 TSET EEA LEN 40 SEND ^RX123^V45 DEL 50 RX <Operation> 100 mseconds after transmission is activated, the transceiver transmits the first 3 tones from the 1st - 3rd digit of the RX Address and the following 2 tones from the Selectable Receive Code, in the EEA Tone format. Each tone duration is 40 mseconds. 50 mseconds after sending the tones, it returns to receive mode. SENDC Output the Queue Code. It is used to transmit the Selcall Message Code selected by the SELC command. <Example> Encode format: SELC TXS DEL 100 TSET EEA LEN 40 SENDC DEL 100 RX Decode format: STO 12345 QUEUE DISPM MONO BEEP 12 <Operation> Press the key that is assigned to execute this Encode Format to enter the Selcall Message (=Queue Message) selection menu. After the Selcall Message is selected, press the [*] key or the Encode Format key again to transmit the selected Queue Message code. As for the receiver side, the transceiver stores the Selcall and copies it to the Queue Buffer. The Message for the Code appears and the squelch unmutes. Beep 12 sounds. SENDS Outputs the Status Code. It is used to output the Status Code, and is selected by the SELM command. <Example> Encode format: SELM TXS DEL 100 TSET EEA LEN 40 SENDS DEL 100 RX Decode format: SSTO 12345 QUEUE DISPM MONO BEEP 1 <Operation> Press the key that is assigned to execute this Encode Format to enter the Status Message selection menu. After the Status Message is selected, press the [*] key or the Encode Format key again to transmit the selected Status Message code. As for the receiver side, the transceiver stores the Status code and copies it to the Temporary Buffer. The Message for the Code appears and the squelch unmutes. Beep 1 sounds. SLEN ofs Causes a digit to be sent as selcall or DTMF, the value of which is determined by the length of the dialed number string. The digit value is calculated as (Length + Offset) MOD 10, and thus has a value ranging from 0 to 9. The SLEN instruction can be used to build a data41

packet to transmit dialing information from the transceiver to an infrastructure connected to the PSTN. ofs(Off Set): 0 - 9(in steps of 1) <Example> Encode format: SELD TXD DEL 50 LEN 150 SDIAL DEL 150 SLEN 1 DEL 150 SCHK DEL 50 RX <Operation> When the DTMF digits, "1234" are entered. Press the key that is assigned to execute this Encode Format to enter the DTMF code input menu. Enter [1], [2], [3], [4] ("1234"), then press the [*] key to transmit the code. 1. "1234" (4 digits) is transmitted as the Encode Code. 2. Then, "5", the SLEN digit is added to "1234" to make the code "12345". 3. Add together all the digits, including the SLEN digit. Then take the ones digit. In the above case 1+2+3+4+5=15. The sum of the digits is 15, so we use the number 5 as it is the ones digit. Add the number 5 to the code. The code to be transmitted is now 123455. The SLEN 'ofs' instruction transmits the MOD 10 result of the free-dial string length added to the offset "ofs". The instruction is used within the encode definitions to transfer the free-dial number information to a telephone interconnect. It provides additional protection against false decoding. Below are three examples: - Dialing string '1234567' (length 7), instruction SLEN 3: (7+3) MOD 10 = 0 - Dialing string '456376247623' (length 12), instruction SLEN 9: (12+9) MOD 10 = 1 - Dialing string (length 0), instruction SLEN 5: (0+5) MOD 10 = 5 SOPEN When monitor open is detected, it skips the Encode Format SOPEN and the next sequence, defined in SEND, SENDC, SENDS, SCHK, SDIAL and SLEN. <Example> Encode format: TXS DEL 100 TSET EEA LEN 40 SOPEN SEND #59402 DEL 50 RX <Operation> If you press a key, assigned this Encode Format. It returns to receive mode without transmitting #59402 when the monitor is open. It transmits #59402 when monitor is close. Radio firmware versions 1.03 and earlier do not support this function. STOPS Stop scanning. <Example> Encode format: ERRX1 STOPS XSCAN TXM <Operation> If the Scan has started already, an error tone sounds and scanning stops. If the Scan is stopped, the transceiver transmits. STRTS Starts scan. <Example> Encode format: STRTS <Operation> The transceiver starts scan

TEXT 'text' Causes text to be output onto the display. Individual characters in the display are shifted from right to left. Use LEN to select the shifting speed and TXTOF to restore the previous display. <Example> Encode format: LEN 250 TEXT 'Radio ID 1001' DEL 500 TXTOF <Operation> "Radio ID 1001" scrolls from right to left on the display at intervals of 250 mseconds. The display returns to normal after 500 mseconds. TONE af-freq Transmits a single tone selected with "af-freq". A tone in the range of 300 Hz to 3000 Hz can be transmitted. Use LEN to select the transmission duration. A single tone is often required to deactivate the Monitor activated by a repeater, group call or Selective Call system. af-freq: 300 - 3000 Hz <Example> Encode format: TXS DEL 250 LEN 6000 TONE 2135 DEL 150 RX <Operation> The transceiver waits for 250 mseconds after entering transmit mode, and then transmits a 2135 Hz tone for 6 seconds. 150 mseconds after transmitting, it returns to receive mode. TPD Deactivates the transparency mode that is activated with TPE. <Example> Encode format: SELD TXD DEL 50 LEN 150 DEL 80 TPE SDIAL DEL 50 TPD TXS DEL 100 TSET EEA LEN 40 SEND #12345 DEL 50 RX <Operation> Pressing this key causes the transceiver to prompt entry of a DTMF code. Enter "123456", then press this key or the [*] key. The transceiver enters transparency mode and transmits "D1234D56". It then exits Transparency mode, transmits the 5tone #12345, then returns to receive mode. TPE Enables the transfer of a large packet of data using selective call tones, without causing other units to be called because of matching sequences. When the transparency mode is activated by TPE, a D-digit will be inserted after every four transmitted digits, which will prevent other units from being called. The TPE instruction is normally used in combination with the SDIAL instruction for transferring a dialing string.

TPOF Activates Timed Power Off which turns Off the transceiver under a certain condition. After this function has turned the power Off, use the power switch to operate the transceiver again. Program the parameter in the Timed Power Off Encode format (System Parameters/ 5tone). If so programmed, the transceiver transmits a Selcall code before the power is automatically turned Off. <Example> Encode Format: TXS DEL 100 TSET EEA LEN 40 SEND #12345 DEL 50 RX TPOF <Operation> The transceiver waits for 100 mseconds after entering transmit mode, then transmits #12345 with EEA. 50 mseconds after transmitting, it returns to receive mode and turns the power Off. This function is available only for mobile transceivers. TSET "toneset" Selects the toneset for transmission of selective call messages. The available tone sets are: ZVEI, CCIR, EEA, PZVEI, DZVEI, PCCIR, PDZVEI, ZVEI-2, EIA, Natel, AP-369 and Kenwood. You must set the length per tone using the LEN instruction. toneset: ZVEI, CCIR, EEA, PZVEI, DZVEI, PCCIR, PDZVEI, ZVEI-2, EIA, Natel, AP-369 and KENWOOD <Example> Encode Format: TXS DEL 100 TSET KENWOOD LEN 70 SEND #98765 DEL 50 RX <Operation> The transceiver waits for 100 mseconds after entering transmit mode, then transmits KENWOOD Tone #98765. 50 mseconds after transmitting, it returns to receive mode. TXD Transmits DTMF tones. The microphone is muted during transmission. If "DTMFDTMF Side Tone" has been enabled, DTMF tones are output from the speaker. <Example> Encode format: TXD DEL 100 LEN 150 SEND #1234 TXM <Operation> The transceiver waits for 100 mseconds after transmission activates, then transmits DTMF Code #1234. Each tone duration is 150 mseconds. After transmitting, it quits muting the microphone, then continues transmitting. This happens when used as ANI, with PTT Press programmed. TXF rf-freq Transmits using the frequency selected with "rf-freq". Define a frequency in the range selected for the Model Type. Both the microphone and the speaker are muted during transmission. rf-freq: RF frequency <Example> Encode format: TXF 451.25500 TXS DEL 50 LEN 6000 TONE 2135 DEL 2000 RX TXP TXS DEL 50 LEN 1000 TONE 1000 DEL 50 RX <Operation> The transceiver transmits a 2135 Hz tone for 6 seconds at 451.255 MHz. 2 seconds after transmitting, it transmits a 1000 Hz tone for 1 second on the current channel frequency, then returns to receive mode.
44

TXM Transmits with the microphone unmuted and the speaker muted. The parameter is usually programmed for PTT Press (System Parameters/ 5tone). <Example> Encode format: TXS SCTP TXM <Operation> The transceiver uses the QT/DQT programmed in the current channel to encode signals. It then quits muting the microphone and continues transmitting. TXP Transmits on the current channel frequency. TXS Transmits a 5tone code, or a single tone. The microphone is muted during transmission. If 5Tone Side Tone has been enabled, tones are output from the speaker. <Example> Encode Format: TXS DEL 100 TSET EEA LEN 40 SEND ^RX123^V45 DEL 50 RX <Operation> The transceiver waits for 100 mseconds after entering transmit mode, then transmits the 5 digits with EEA (1 tone: 40 ms). The fourth and fifth digits in the Selectable Receive code are transmitted following the first three digits in the RX Address. Both the microphone and speaker are muted during transmission. TXT Transmits a QT Reverse Burst tone or a DQT Turn Off code. Both the microphone and speaker are muted during transmission. <Example> Encode Format: TXT SCPH DEL 180 DTAIL DEL 180 RX <Operation> With the QT programmed in the current channel, the transceiver transmits a Reverse Burst tone for 180 mseconds. With the DQT, it transmits a Turn Off code for 180 mseconds. TXTOF Restores the previous display after the text has been displayed with the TEXT command. <Example> Encode format: LEN 150 TEXT 'Hello Kenwood' DEL 300 TXTOF <Operation> "Hello Kenwood" is scrolled from right to left on the display at intervals of 180 mseconds. The display returns to normal after 300 mseconds.

XCARR Does not cause the transceiver to execute the subsequent instruction and causes it to quit the Encode format sequence when it detects a carrier in the current channel. <Example> Encode format: ERRX1 XCARR TXM <Operation> If the transceiver detects a carrier on the current channel, it generates an error tone and does not transmit. XCLOS Does not cause the transceiver to execute the subsequent instruction and causes it to quit the Encode format sequence when the Monitor is deactivated. <Example> Encode format: OPEN XCLOS TXS DEL 100 TSET EEA LEN 40 SEND ^RX12345 DEL 50 RX CLOSE <Operation> The transceiver checks whether the Monitor is on or off. When Monitor is off, it activates the Monitor, then quits the Encode format sequence. When Monitor is on, it transmits ^RX12345, restores the receive mode, then deactivates the Monitor. XCTCM Causes Busy Channel Lock Out to function for QT/DQT. With [Monitor] pressed (QT/DQT deactivated), the transceiver executes the subsequent instruction. With QT/DQT still active, the transceiver transmits when it detects no carrier or when QT/DQT matches. It does not execute the subsequent instruction and quits the Encode format sequence when it detects only a carrier or when QT/DQT does not match. <Example> Encode format: XCTCM TXM SCTP <Operation> The transceiver transmits when it detects no carrier or when QT/DQT matches. It quits the Encode format sequence when it detects when QT/DQT does not match. XCTCN The transceiver does not execute the subsequent instruction and quits the Encode format sequence when it detects only a carrier or when QT/DQT does not match. This function inhibits the use of a repeater being used by another group. <Example> Encode format: ERRX1 XCTCN TXM <Operation> The transceiver generates error tones and does not transmit when it detects only a carrier and when QT/DQT does not match. XCTCW The transceiver quits the Encode format sequence when it detects no carrier or when QT/DQT does not match. <Example> Encode format: ERRX1 XCTCW TXM <Operation>
46

The transceiver generates error tones and does not transmit when it detects no carrier and when QT/DQT does not match while executing the Encode format sequence. XNOT Pressing the [Transfer] key causes the transfer instruction following "XNOT" to be executed. Without pressing [Transfer], the transfer instruction following "XNOT" will not be executed. <Example> Decode Format: CMP #59405 BEEP 1 ENCI transfer transfer: XNOT TXS DEL 100 TSET EEA LEN 40 SEND #59402 RX <Operation> On receiving #59405, the transceiver outputs beep 1, then executes the transfer instruction in the Encode Format sequence. With [Transfer] pressed, it executes the transfer instruction following "XNOT" (transmission of #59402). Without pressing [Transfer], it does not execute the transfer instruction following "XNOT". XOPEN When Monitor is on, the Encode format sequence is not executed. When Monitor is off, the Encode format sequence is executed. <Example> Encode format: CLOSE XOPEN TXS DEL 100 TSET EEA LEN 40 SEND ^RX12345 DEL 50 RX OPEN <Operation> The transceiver checks whether the Monitor is on or off. When Monitor is on, it deactivates the Monitor, then quits the Encode format sequence. When Monitor is off, it transmits ^RX12345, restores the receive mode, then deactivates the Monitor. XSAT st-tone Unless the transceiver does not receive QT/DQT selected with "st-tone", it does execute the subsequent instruction. When the transceiver receive QT/DQT selected with "sttone", it does not execute the subsequent instruction. st-tone: QT frequency (67.0 to 250.3) or DQT code (N or I) <Example> Encode format: XSAT 88.5 TXS DEL 100 TSET EEA LEN 40 SEND #59402 DEL 50 RX <Operation> With an 88.5 Hz QT tone received, it quits the Encode format sequence. Without receiving the 88.5 Hz QT tone, the transceiver transmits #59402. XSCAN The transceiver does not execute the subsequent instruction and quits the Encode format sequence if it is scanning or temporarily halting scan. <Example> Encode format: ERRX1 STOPS XSCAN TXM <Operation> The transceiver quits scanning and generates error tones if it is scanning or temporarily halting scan. It does not transmit. It transmits using the revert channel if it is not scanning.
47

XSENS The transceiver does not execute the subsequent instruction and quits the Encode format sequence if it is scanning. It executes the subsequent instruction if it is halting scan. <Example> Encode Format: XSENS TXM <Operation> The transceiver quits the Encode format sequence and does not transmit if it is scanning. It transmits using the revert channel if it is halting scan or if it is not scanning.
