Master of Education (MEd) Programme Overview The Masters of Education programme is designed to develop educators with the necessary

job skills to make education informative, interesting and inspirational. The programme teaches advanced skills to improve students learning abilities as well as instil the desire to continue learning. As the scope of education is wide and requires special attention, the Masters of Education offers eighteen (18) programmes, namely: Masters of Education (Sociology of Education) Masters of Education (Philosophy of Education) Masters of Education (Language Education) Masters of Education (English Language Education) Masters of Education (Planning and Administration) Masters of Education (Curriculum Development) Masters of Education (Health Education) Masters of Education (Physical Education) Masters of Education (Mathematics Education) Masters of Education (Science Education) Masters of Education (Educational Psychology) Masters of Education (Special Education) Masters of Education (Measurement and Evaluation) Masters of Education (Social Science Education) Masters of Education (Art Education) Masters of Education (Value Education) Masters of Education (lslamic Education) Masters of Education (Arabic Language Education) The programme of study shall be classified as follows: (a) Programme by Coursework and Research, that is, a programme of study combining lectures and research leading to a dissertation. Programme by Research, that is, a programme of study wholly by research leading to a dissertation

Entry Requirements (a) Bachelor of Education; or (b) Bachelors degree with Education; or (c) Bachelors degree; and (i) Postgraduate Diploma in Education; or (ii) Professional teaching qualification; or (iii) Relevant teaching experience from an educational institution recognized by the Senate; or (iv) Working experience in a relevant field; or (d) Professional qualification from a recognized professional body; or (e) Other qualifications approved by the Senate from time to time. Language Requirements: International candidates following a programme conducted in English need to have at least IELTS (International English Language Testing Services) band six (6) or TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of five hundred and fifty (550) if the first degree was obtained from a university where English was not the medium of instruction; or Passed an English Language course as required by the university before registration Programme Structure (a) Coursework and Research Comprises of fifty five (55) credits which include fifteen (15) credits taught courses and forty (40) credits of a dissertation. Research. This programme is carried out entirely by research leading to the production of a dissertation. However candidates are required to take the course in introduction to Research in Education (PXGZ 6101).

Programme Duration (a) Coursework & Research A minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters. Research A minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters.
