Description of the Feature

With the feature Alarm Call Service (ACS) a subscriber can automatically receive a wake-up call at a time specified in advance. Such an alarm call is possible on a casual basis or repeatedly at the same time over a number of consecutive days, weeks or years. In the case of regular alarm calls, certain days of the week can be specified over consecutive weeks. Interactions For interaction with other features, see Feature Interactions.

Comfort Alarm Call Service The alarm call order can be booked by the operator as arranged or by the automatic operator via Internet, and it is carried out by the operator.

Semiautomatic and comfort alarm calls can also be offered to subscribers who are not directly connected to an EWSD network node. Booking an automatic alarm call Subscribers can book one or more alarm calls from their own telephone, someone elses telephone (menudriven), or from an Internet terminal. The following different types of automatic alarm call are offered: Alarm call service, automatic, within the next 24 hours Subscribers can book one or more alarm calls to their telephone within the next 24 hours, at a time specied in advance.

Mode of operation
The feature Alarm Call Service (ACS) offers the following variants: Automatic Alarm Call Service The alarm call order can be booked by subscriber controlled input (local, menu-driven or via Internet) or by the operator as arranged, and the alarm call is carried out automatically by the network node. Semiautomatic Alarm Call Service The alarm call order can be booked by the operator as arranged or by the automatic operator via Internet, and the alarm call is carried out automatically by the network node.

Alarm call service, automatic regular, on a number of consecutive days Subscribers can book one or more alarm calls to their telephone at the same time on consecutive days. The alarm call can be booked for a specied period of time, or for an indenite period. The time and duration must be specied by the subscriber. For the duration, a value of between 0 and 99 days is allowed. If 0 is specied for the duration, the alarm call will be carried out for an indenite period. Alarm call service, automatic regular, on certain days of the week Subscribers can book one or more alarm calls to their telephone at the same time on certain days of the week. The alarm call can be booked for a specic number of consecutive weeks or for an indenite number of weeks. The time and duration must be specied by the subscriber. For the duration, a value of between 0 and 52 weeks is allowed. If 0 is specied for the duration, the alarm call will be carried out for an indenite number of weeks.

Execution of an alarm call order Alarm call orders are administrated in an alarm call list. This list is divided up into 5-minute intervals. Alarm call times within such a 5-minute interval are always equivalent, i.e. the alarm call time is always rounded down to the beginning of the 5-minute interval, e.g. 6:11 to 6:10, 6:14 to 6:10. For any subscriber, only one alarm call can be made per 5-minute interval. An alarm call order that is already listed in a 5-minute interval is replaced if the subscriber enters a new alarm call order with the same alarm call time, even if a different type of alarm call is involved (casual or regular). Up to 1000 alarm call orders (casual or regular) can be assigned to a 5-minute interval. Alarm call orders that are entered by subscriber controlled input can be automatically brought forward if the desired 5-minute interval is already full, assuming that there is still room for further orders in the preceding 5minute interval. The number of intervals by which an alarm call order can be brought forward can be set between 0 and 3. All alarm call orders belonging to one 5-minute interval are executed at the same time. In the case of automatic and semiautomatic alarm calls the network node sets up the connections to the subscribers automatically. When the subscriber answers, the alarm call is put through. In the case of comfort alarm calls, the network node first sets up a connection to the operator, who then forwards the alarm call to the subscriber via a PC application. If a called subscriber is busy or does not reply, the alarm call can be repeated in the next 5-minute interval. The number of repetitions can be set to between 0 and 2.

When booking a regular alarm call, subscribers can explicitly exclude holidays. The network node confirms acceptance of an alarm call order (in the case of local subscriber controlled input) with an announcement. The subscriber controlled inputs for activating the feature can also be acknowledged by INDAS announcements. These announcements give a more precise confirmation of the alarm call order entered.

Alarm call orders can only be repeated in the next 5minute interval if the maximum number of alarm call orders has not been reached in this interval. In any 5-minute interval, the alarm call orders that have to be repeated are executed first, and then the alarm call orders that were entered for this 5-minute interval. An alarm is only repeated if at least 2.5 minutes have passed since it was last sent.

Alarm call announcement

Alarm call orders that cannot be carried out because of an interval overflow (due to repetition of other unsuccessful alarm calls) are displayed at the beginning of the next 2.5 minute interval.

If all attempts at a semiautomatic or automatic alarm call are unsuccessful, the alarm call can be forwarded to an operator. The operator can perform a manual alarm call. Capacity The number of alarm call connections that can be set up simultaneously depends on the number of alarm call ports.

Subscriber controlled input

The feature can be administrated by subscriber controlled input. There are several input modes: Digit input, local Digit input, remote (only GeoCENTREX) Menu-driven input (local or remote) Input via Internet Digit input, local The following table shows the input options for this feature:

Digit input, remote (only GeoCENTREX) For GeoCENTREX groups, alarm calls can be booked for a Centrex member by a basic attendant (BATN) or on a MAC console. Remote input of alarm call orders can only be carried out by a basic attendant or GeoCENTREX attendant within a GeoCENTREX group. Example of the input format: Alarm call service, automatic, within the next 24 hours Enter an alarm call order DT ( ( ) ) PIN CXDN IND SC Start enter PIN *) CENTREX Intercom End

To interrogate all data, only Start and End have to be entered. Alarm Call Service, automatic regular, on certain days of the week Enter an alarm call order DT ( ) SC hhmm ww dd ( IND ) Start Time Number of weeks Weekday excluding holidays *) End

*) PIN: attendants own password The MAC console has its own graphical user interface (GUI) for administration of alarm call orders. Menu-driven input (local or remote) Local: The subscriber dials a remote service number (RSN) and is connected to the automatic service for menu-driven input. The subscriber hears a welcoming announcement and selects the required function from a menu. The various services for which the subscriber is authorized are presented; for example: for call forwarding immediate, dial 1 for call forwarding on busy, dial 2 for automatic recall, dial 3 for the alarm call service, dial 4 Remote: The same as for local, but the subscriber needs a different RSN. The subscriber is then asked to enter the home directory number rst.

*) not possible with pulse dialing To cancel all alarm call orders, only Start and End have to be entered. Interrogate alarm call order DT ( ( ) hhmm dd) IND SC Start Check time Weekday End

To interrogate all data, only Start and End have to be entered.

Input via Internet Web-based administration of supplementary services (ISCI) Authorized subscribers can enter, cancel and interrogate automatic alarm call orders via an operators Web page. Via an automatic operator Authorized subscribers can enter semiautomatic and comfort alarm call orders via an operator web page. These orders are imported into the network node automatically.

Administration
The operator can perform all administration functions on the NetManager by means of user-friendly applications or MML commands. Feature authorization The operator specifies for the network node whether individual subscriber authorization is to be created for the following alarm call services or not: Alarm call service, automatic, with the next 24 hours Alarm call service, automatic regular, on a number of consecutive days Alarm call service, automatic regular, on certain days of the week In the case of ISDN subscribers the feature is only possible for voice services.
