4 students from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee joined the Go Green in the City challenge in 2012. Will you take part in 2013?
Rueil-Malmaison (France), December 31st, 2012 Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management, invites students from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee for the third edition of Go Green in the City, its international competition focused on developing innovative energy solutions for smarter cities. In 2012 4 students from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee participated in the challenge and now it is your chance to show your creative idea for the global leader in energy management. Go Green in the City aims to give a better understanding of the global energy challenge and to create a strong bond with young and emerging talents throughout the world, future core players of tomorrows energy market. Over the past two years, more than 1050 teams representing 2,100 candidates from 9 countries (Germany, France, Turkey, Poland, USA, India, China, Russia and Brazil) participated in the competition. In teams of two, at least one of which should be a woman, you as a students are encouraged to come up with viable solutions for energy management. You then apply by sending in a pitch of your idea by latest March 3rd 2013. The best proposals should reconcile increased demand for energy, social progress and environmental protection. After a first selection of the 100 most interesting projects in April 2013, the students will have 5 weeks to develop their idea with the help of Schneider Electric mentor assigned to them. After a final selection process, 25 finalist teams will be invited to Paris to present final project to a jury composed of Schneider Electric managers. The two members of the winning team will be offered a job to start their career with Schneider Electric. They will also have the opportunity to visit Schneider Electric facilities in different parts of the world and meet fellow employees, as well as being exposed to senior leaders. The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee is invited to participate and you have the chance to be one of the 2013 finalists flying to Paris in June 1013 Encouraged by the success of the two previous editions of Go Green in the City, Schneider Electric decided to open the challenge to 10 more countries, thus bringing the total number of countries covered by this 2013 edition to 19. The new countries will include Mexico, Canada, as well as 8 countries from the East Asia region1 (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Korea and Taiwan). By opening Go Green in the City to 10 more countries, Schneider Electric wants to respond to the growing concern students show for energy issues and raise awareness of the challenges facing the energy sector in both mature and new economies, said Karen Ferguson, Executive Vice President, Global Human Resources at Schneider Electric. This is your chance to participate in a truly international case challenge with participants and mentors from all over the world. Last day of application is March 3rd.

The East Asia countries are part of a competition organized within Schneider Electric independently of Go Green in the City. Only the winner team of the East Asia contest will join the top 25 selection of Go Green in the City 2013 edition.
