SEARCHING...
Have you ever lost something that really mattered? Maybe it was your car keys, or your purse or wallet? Maybe it was your phone! Once you realise something is lost usually you retrace your steps, you go through every room in the house and yet you still cant find it. There is nothing more frustrating than losing something valuable.
The Bible tells us that Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. He wasnt talking about iphones or money, He was talking about people, human beings. It can be incredibly frightening to be lost, to not know our bearings, to not know the direction we are heading, to suddenly find ourselves in unfamiliar territory. to live a life of meaning for themselves. Perhaps most importantly for us we have lost the very relationship we were designed to have - our relationship with our heavenly Father. It was Jesus Himself who declared that He came to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10). To find those who were far away from God and restore that relationship. To be the bridge between humanity and God. To show people what God the Father is really like - not harsh and judgemental but loving and compassionate. To make a way possible for people to find their way back to knowing God, to bring the lost home. There is nothing quite so wonderful as finding something precious, something of great value. Perhaps the find is all the sweeter when the item has been lost to us, when we couldnt find it no matter how hard we looked and then suddenly it was there. Jesus asks those who have found the wonderful truth of knowing Him, not just to be grateful about the amazing transformation in their own lives but to go back out and help others find their way back. It is only when we search that we truly find.

Yet when we are not in relationship with God the Bible describes us as lost. We have lost the true understanding of who we are, who we were created to be. We have lost our purpose and go through life simply existing and not really living. Many have lost their self worth and sense of value, always living to please everyone else but never really knowing how

Doug Williams is the Senior Pastor of Walthamstow Assemblies of God church and also served on the National Leadership Team. Doug is a powerful, gifted speaker who is much sought after. Lifes Big Questions Series

Why is there suffering in the world? Are we created or did we evolve? Is there really a God? These are all questions people in our society ask regularly and we are putting on this series for you to invite your work mates, neighbours and colleagues to hear the answers. This series will be starting on Sunday 24th February which is the week after Dez Brown will be visiting. Dez will be powerfully sharing how he came to know Jesus whilst he was in prison, then the following Sunday this series on Lifes Big Questions will begin. Lets really invite others.

LIFE
This great 5 week Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the big questions of life and the Christian faith in a relaxed friendly environment.
There is a great meal together at the beginning of each session which gives an opportunity to get to know each other. Then a short talk and a discussion on the bigger topics of life.On an Alpha course no question is too simple or too difficult. This five week course is also completely free of charge but places are limited. However, f you want to bring a friend you are most welcome! and fast
In the busyness of life it is important that we start the year right.
We have set aside a week right at the beginning of 2013 to seek God together, to pray for our community and our nation and its many needs, to pray for our church in both locations, for growth, maturity, function and to pray for the needs of people we know and love. From Monday 6th to Friday 10th January the church will be open for you to join us in praying together. If you can fast then please do so. There will be three sessions throughout each day: 6:00am-7:00am morning 12:30-1:30pm lunchtime 7:30-9:00pm evening Lets prioritise what matters most - praying for our country, our town and our people. Dont forget throughout the year we also have prayer every Friday 7:30pm until 9:30pm in the conference room upstairs.

All across our nation there are young men without hope and without proper role models. Many end up in young offenders prisons. We run a Christian mentoring programme within Rochesters Young Offenders unit which runs on 2 levels:Level 1 - we bring Christians into the prisons to mentor the lads on a Monday evening (fortnightly). Level 2 - we continue mentoring when they leave prison. Do you want to get involved? Please email the church or call the office. We are actively involved in the Street Pastors programme within our town. Street Pastors engage with people on the streets to care, listen and talk. Our teams in Dartford operate on Friday and Saturday evenings in the town centre. If you would like to get involved you will need a recommendation from your Pastors. Training is then provided. You will need a firm faith in Jesus, the ability to connect with people from all walks of life and be able to help and listen. Email John Atkins who has more information. Car: if you are driving we have car parking available on Sundays only, using the EllenorLions car park (drive around The Livingstone Hospital next door to us, and take a left into the large car park). Bus: if you are travelling by bus the following bus routes will bring you past our church-453, 476/477, 423, 480, 428, 492. Train: the nearest station is Dartford, you will see the railway station symbol in the top left hand corner of the map.
