JAKE MIROW PERFORMANCE RESUME Piano I began playing the piano as a toddler, and started lessons at age 6.

I have studied piano continuously. During this time I had a minimum of two recitals per year. I also participated in the jazz band at Powell Middle School, as the principal pianist. I was the pianist for the Arapahoe High School Jazz I Ensemble (the highest jazz band) for the third year in that position. I competed at the Mesa State Creative Pianist Competition in April 2010, and won two first place categories: Best Performance of a Contemporary Piece (The Cat and The Mouse, Aaron Copland); and Most Creative Pianist. Both categories also awarded a cash prize. I received the Woody Herman award for outstanding contribution to the jazz ensemble at Arapahoe High School, 2009-2010 school year. I received the Outstanding Junior Class Musician for the 2010-2011 school year. I have lettered in music five times. I have performed at every talent show at Arapahoe High School since Freshman year as a solo piano artist. I am a prolific composer, writing at every opportunity. I write music for piano and also write drum line cadences. I use Sibelius and Ableton to aid in composition. Percussion In 2008, I was recruited to participate in the Arapahoe High School Marching Band Front Ensemble as an 8th grader, while still in middle school. I participated in both Marching Band competitions and parades. We were ranked 2nd in the state that year. I have taken percussion lessons, including mallet, snare, timpani and marching snare, since 9th grade (2009). I continued in the Front Ensemble my Freshman and Sophomore years, and also was the Section Leader during those years. I moved to snare drum my Junior year. Additionally, I participated in the competitive Winter Percussion Ensemble for Arapahoe High School for the past three years. My first year competing in that Ensemble, we won the State Championship. During the most recent competition year (2010-2011), I was Center Snare for the Ensemble.

I participated in the State Solo and Ensemble Competition in 2010, where the Ensemble was given a Superior Rating. My solo snare drum piece was also given a Superior Rating. In my Freshman year, I was a member of the Symphonic Band (the 2nd highest band), and my Sophomore and Junior years was a member of the Wind Ensemble (the highest band). During these years, we competed in many band festivals, always earning a Superior or Excellent rating. I also played piano on many pieces for the Wind Ensemble. I received the Honors Musician Award twice, for performing in an Honors Group: Masonic Band Camp in 2009 and C.U. Honor Band in 2011. I participated in the Marching Band, as not only Section Leader for the Drum Line, but was also named Drum Captain for the 2012 season, and continued on to winter percussion holdingmy position as Center Snare. I composed the pre-show for our 2011 Marching Band show Triskaidekaphobia. I composed the front ensemble music for our 2011-2012 Winter Percussion show. Clarinet/Bass Clarinet I began playing clarinet in the 6th grade (age 11), and added bass clarinet later that year. During this time I had a minimum of two recitals per year, and a minimum of three school concerts. Other I was a Member of The Young Voices Choir in 1999-2000. I was also a Member of Spotlight Academy from 2002-2004, where we performed musicals adapted for youngsters. I was cast as Hugo in Bye Bye Birdie and as a member of the T-Birds in Grease. I was in a classic rock cover band Red Roxx as the piano player and we regularly played gigs around Colorado.
