The follow-up to Klaatus debut album, 3:47 EST was entitled HOPE and originally released in 1977. This epic concept album tells the story of the Lighthouse Keeper, the last surviving member of his violent race. Having reduced their planet to a field of asteroids, the Lighthouse Keeper feels compelled to guide all cosmic travellers through this debris field with his solar flare. The orchestral arrangements were written and conducted by the late Doug Riley of Doctor Music fame. The National Philharmonic Orchestra was recorded at Olympic Studios in London, England. This 2012 re-master has been created by Peter Moore at The E Room with Terry Brown, the albums original producer.

The concept is set of life lessons shown to us by the life of a universal mother to all, wrapped in uncertainty and contradiction, and personal firsthand accounts of struggles of family and friends throughout my life, vocalist/lyricist Sean Murphy said. After announcing just about two years ago that VERSE would disband, the members regrouped in late 2011 and made the decision to give it another go. Upon completion of recording Bitter Clarity, Uncommon Grace, VERSE will head overseas then tour Westward in Summer of 2012, with plans to hit South America, Japan, and Australia are also in the works for later this year.

Refuge - its title inspired by the words dual meaning, which can signal either a safe haven or a harbour of last resort - was unquestionably meant to be, even if Soderbergs mettle was tested in the process. The brisk, 10-song set serves as an ideal introduction to a vocalist of rare reach and passion, who was as comfortable as at a young age warbling in a interdenominational church choir in tiny Young, Saskatchewan (pop. 500) as she is coaxing a come-hither chorus in the Latin-dusted shuffle of Easily Embraceable Me, one of Refuges most beguiling tracks.

Homage to the Old Master: Sonatas for Keyboard by Carlos Seixas

During his lifetime, Carlos Seixas (1704-1742) was well known in his native Portugal as an eminent and much loved composer. From an early age, he dazzled listeners with brilliant keyboard skills, and his creative output eventually surpassed 700 works. After his death, the popularity of Seixas music undeservedly declined. However, since the second half of the twentieth century it has been enjoying a revival. Seixas displays inventiveness and wit in the characters, forms, and textures of his sonatas. From flamboyant to deeply expressive, contemplative to fiery, they encompass a wide array of moods and emotions, and have the rare quality of speaking directly to the heart. This music is full of surprises. It never fails to delight the listener.
