CRITERIA
Applicant
must
be
the
dependent
of
an
active
duty
military
member
or
the
dependent
of
a
civilian
working
in
the
Camp
Zama
military
community.
Applicant
must
be
working
toward
the
completion
of
an
associate,
undergraduate
or
graduate
degree.
Applicant
must
submit
this
complete
scholarship
application
form
along
with
a
5-year
work/volunteer
history.
Applicant
must
submit
a
copy
of
college
transcripts.
Applicant
must
submit
a
letter
from
their
school
verifying
current
enrollment.
Applicant
must
write
and
submit
a
one
page,
double-spaced
essay
on
the
following
topic:
My
education
goals
and
how
earning
a
degree
will
impact
my
life.
Previous ZaCSA scholarship recipients are not eligible to apply for future ZaCSA scholarships. The scholarship application deadline is March 15, 2013. Applications and all supporting documentation must be Post Marked by the US Post Office on or by March 15, 2013 to be considered. GENERAL INFORMATION
1) Eligibility
Requirements:
a) The
applicant
must
be
a
family
member
/
spouse
of
an
active
duty
military
member
(any
service)
or
the
family
member
/
spouse
of
a
SOFA
sponsored
employee
working
in
the
Camp
Zama
community.
b) The
spouse
or
family
member
receiving
the
scholarship
cannot
also
be
a
sponsor.
A
non-spouse
family
member
applying
for
the
scholarship
must
be
post-high
school
and
under
the
age
of
23.
c) The
applicant
must
clearly
state
the
type
of
degree
on
the
application
(i.e.
Associate,
Bachelor,
or
Graduate
degree).
2) Criteria
for
Selection:
a) Applicants
will
be
judged
on
an
essay,
5
year
volunteer
service
or
work
history
and
grade
point
average.
b) Applicants
remain
anonymous
during
the
application
process.
All
personal
information,
including
name,
address,
and
sponsors
information
will
be
removed
from
the
applications
prior
to
judging.
c) Transcripts
and
grade
reports
pertaining
to
the
current
degree
being
sought
must
be
provided
as
well
as
a
letter
from
the
university
verifying
current
enrollment.
Failure
to
provide
this
information
will
result
in
automatic
disqualification.
Internet
transcripts
are
not
acceptable.
(Note:
Please
do
not
provide
transcripts
pertaining
to
unrelated
or
previously
completed
degree
programs.)
3) Limitations:
a) The
ZaCSA
Scholarship
may
be
used
at
any
accredited
college
or
university,
vocational
school,
community
or
junior
college.
It
will
be
used
to
defray
the
cost
of
tuition
and
university
sponsored
room
and
board.
It
may
not
be
used
to
defray
the
cost
of
books,
fees,
computer
costs
or
other
accessory
expenses.
b) The
applicant
will
not
be
eligible
to
receive
this
award
if
at
any
time
he
or
she
accepts
any
other
full
four-year
scholarship.
c) Scholarships
are
not
available
to
Scholarship
Awards
Committee
members.
d) Award
money
will
be
mailed
to
the
recipients
college
in
the
form
or
a
check
payable
to
the
school
he
or
she
will
be
attending.
Please
note:
Payments
will
not
be
made
directly
to
the
student.
e) If
the
scholarship
recipient
fails
to
enroll
in
classes
by
the
fall
term,
he
or
she
must
immediately
notify
the
Scholastic
Awards
Chairperson.

4) Application Instructions: a) Applications must be typed and double-spaced. Please use the format provided. Submit only one transcript. Do not submit letters of recommendation or acceptance letters. b) All Applicants will be notified of the final results. c) Follow all instructions carefully and meet all deadlines. Failure to follow these instructions or failure to meet the required deadlines will disqualify the applicants packet from consideration. Application deadline is March 15, 2013. d) Direct any questions you may have to ZaCSA Scholastic Awards Chairperson at scholarship@zacsa.org 5) Hints and Tips a) Be sure to follow all instructions carefully. b) Meet all stated deadlines and have all necessary signatures. c) Failure to follow these instructions or failure to meet the required deadlines will disqualify the applicants packet from consideration. Have someone read your essays to catch any problems with clarity, grammar, etc. d) Have someone review your entire application packet to make sure all instructions have been followed and all necessary items are included. e) Be sure to make a copy of your entire application packet to keep for your own records.
