Orson Welles: War of the Worlds reenactment on radio. 75% of population still had jobs. Herbert Hoover, president during Great Depression. o o Hoovervilles: Makeshift settlements of the poor. Hoover flags: Empty pockets turned inside out. July 28th, 1932: Hoover sends in the military, led by Eisenhower and McCartney. 2 veterans and 1 infant dead. The only thing you have to fear is fear itself. The New Deal: A new chance. Focused on 3 Rs: Relief, recovery, reform. WPA: Works Progress Adminsitration. TDA: Tennessee Valley Authority.
