AUTOMATION STUDIO

TM

Automation studio is a completely integrated software package that allows users to design, document, simulate, and animate circuits consisting of various automation technologies including pneumatics, hydraulics, proportional hydraulics, electrical controls, electrotechnical, programmable logic control, sequential function charts (sfc), and many more.

AN EXCELLENT SOFTWARE PACKAGE FOR TEACHING

Teaching and Learning with Automation Studio
By using schematics, help files and data monitoring, Automation Studio becomes an indispensable tool that helps to explain Electrotechnical circuits from the component to the system level. Automation Studio allows instructors to quickly draw power and control circuits and perform demonstrations. It makes it easy to experiment with all types of electrotechnical circuits, from basic to complex. Automation Studio integrates itself to the contents of the course by complementing its material as a teaching aid. As a result of the multi-facet technology of Automation Studio, students will be exposed to a wider variety of interactions between circuits of various technologies. As trainees advance, the simulation will reinforce the understanding of the interactions among the various components in the electrotechnical library and the components in the libraries of hydraulic, pneumatic, digital electronics, SFC, etc. Not only can trainees learn by observing the states of switches and components, but also by observing the color schemes of symbols and by using the variable plotting functions. They will have a better understanding of the functioning of electrical control circuits and the behavior of electrical power circuits in transient and steady states.

Thousands of Symbols in Modular Libraries

Automation Studio's Electrotechnical Libraries incorporate the internationally recognized NEMA and IEC graphics standards. Each library displays component categories in a comprehensive manner. Simply browse through the list, select then drag and drop the component onto the schematic.

Dynamic and Realistic Simulation

Automation Studio includes simulation capabilities that meet the requirements of all the supported technologies. The Electrotechnical Simulator is based on sound and reliable modeling techniques. During simulation, users can precisely monitor voltage, current, resistance and reactance at any point of a circuit.

Simulation Parameters
The default simulation parameters supplied with the Electrotechnical components eliminate the need to perform an initial setup. Just lay out the components and start the simulation. For most components, users can modify the simulation parameters such as resistance, inductance, torque and frequency as well as advanced parameters including the mutual inductance of rotors and stators of motors, the inertia constant of motors, etc. Calculated variables such as speed and mechanical load are automatically displayed. To illustrate more complex concepts, users can modify the simulation parameters and show different behaviors including speed, torque, mechanical power, etc. Instructors can provide students with a diagram in which they will have to perform the calculations to obtain the required values to adjust the components parameters to be simulated.

Make your Own Symbols, Components, Templates, and Libraries

By using the standard components, the flexible drawing tools and the grouping function, you can create and customize your own libraries and templates. For training, instructors can create libraries specific to their application, thereby limiting the number of components to what is needed.

Automation Studio is easy-to-use, economical, and adapts to any curriculum. It truly helps instructors and it integrates itself to the contents of the course, allowing the students learn and retain course content faster. With Automation Studio, students spend their energy learning the technology, not the software interface.

TEACHING ELECTROTECHNICAL AND OTHER RELATED TECHNOLOGIES

Automatic Wire Numbering
The automatic wire numbering feature follows the structure of the identifier defined by the user and takes into account the equipotential points of the circuit. Two wires connected to the same terminal will have the same number. A link will show the wire number. A wire can be configured to automatically take the name of the terminal of a component to which it is connected. The user can renumber wires manually or automatically. The properties of wires provide information on their type, their color, their section, etc.

Terminal Management
The user associates each terminal to a terminal board. For each terminal board, Automation Studio automatically generates a connection diagram including a symbolic representation of the terminal board itself as well as a description of each of its terminals. When connecting a wire to a terminal, the user can specify whether the connection is internal or external.

Cable Management
Automation Studio maintains cable identifiers and conductors. Every conductor and/or pair of conductors are identified separately. A wire linking two terminals can be defined as being a conductor of a cable. The cables technical properties provide information about their type, their number of conductors, the number of pairs of conductors, the conductors colors, the conductors section, etc.

Connection Report
In addition to the reports already available, Automation Studio can generate electrotechnical reports that include cable connections to each terminal board. These reports contain detailed information about the end connections of cables and terminal boards. They can be personalized and printed.
