B. Open an existing topology

The 2c topology should be open by the following steps

The topology opens that default in real time mode.

We would be examined the difference between Realtime mode and Simulation mode that shown on following below: a. Simulation mode uses to allow user to view a sequence of events associated with the communications between two or more devices. b. Realtime mode uses to perform the operation with all of the sequence of events happening at real time.

C. Used the SELECT box to view information of each host and hub.

To view the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and MAC address of each host that the cursor should be moved over that computer.

Select tool

Example: Viewed PC0s information using select tool. And check the IP address is 10.0.0.1, and then check the next PC and so on.

D. Click the simulation icon, and then enter to simulation mode.

Description: This mode allows us to view the sequence of events associated with the communications between two or more devices.

E. Issue a ping from PC0 to PC1
Pings and the ICMP protocol will be examined in much more detail in later steps. The ping program generates an IP packet with an encapsulated ICMP Echo Request message. It is a tool used to test basic layer 2 and layer 3 communications between two devices. When the user issues the ping command, most operating systems send multiple (four or five) ICMP Echo messages. When the destination device receives the ping, Echo Request, it issues an Echo Reply.

1. Used Command Prompt method.

Command to be issued from PC0 is: ping 10.0.0.2

Packet Tracer allows us to either issue the command from the command prompt or to use the Add Simple PDU tool. Both methods will be used. The alternating step of add simple PDU tool that showing on below. 2. Used Simple PDU tool. In order to view only the pings, in the Event List, click on ALL/NONE to clear all protocols, and then click on ICMP to select only that protocol. i. Enter to the simulation mode as show on below.

ii. Clicked Edit Filter button to choose suitable protocol in Event List Filter.

iii.

Clicked on ALL/NONE to clear all protocols, and then click on ICMP.

iv.

Drag the add simple PDU tool to the PC0 to PC1 from the tool box, then the workstation would be become like shown on below:

Description: Using this tool that only a single ping, ICMP Echo Request is sent by PC0, instead of the four pings when using the command prompt. Pressed Capture/Forward to perform the network behavior.

RESULT

i.

The first sec that the data had been sent to hub.

ii.

The second sec, the data had been propagated to three host from the hub.

Description: The above result shown PC 2 and PC 3 dropped due to we just used single ping only at PC0 & PC1 that we set the source at PC 0 and the destination at PC1, so PC 2 and PC3 do not detect the data that had been came. iii. The third sec, data would turn back to hub from PC 1.

iv.

At the fourth sec, data would be sent to back to PC 0 and also propagation to PC 2, and PC3.

Description: PC2 and PC3 do not detect the data, so its status dropped. Finally, the overall network had been complete and the last status would show Successful. Viewing the frame using Protocol Analyzer 1. To examine the actual protocols being sent, click on the colored Info box in the Event List.

DISCUSSION
In entire experiment that as we know, packet tracer is one of a powerful network simulation program that allows students to experiment with network behavior, but also in research for simple computer network simulations. The tool is created by Cisco Systems and provided for free distribution to faculty, students, and alumni who are or have participated in the Cisco Networking Academy. The purpose of Packet Tracer is to offer students and teachers a tool to learn the principles of networking as well as develop Cisco technology specific skills. This software commonly used in Cisco Networking Academy student working towards Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. But another program that related to network communication also can be learnt it. In our experiments about the network topology is star topology that using a center point of Ethernet HuHU Hub. As we know the hub is a device for connecting multiple Ethernet devices together and making them act as a single network segment. A hub works at the physical layer (layer 1) of the OSI model. For the single ping, ICMP echo request is needed, ICMP stand for internet control message protocol that is one of the core protocols of the Internet Protocol Suite using by the operating systems of networked computers to send error messages indicating, for example, that a requested service is not available or that a host could not be reached. ICMP can also be used to relay query messages. It is assigned protocol number 1. As we know the ping is a computer network administration utility used to test the reachability of a host on an Internet Protocol (IP) network and to measure the round-trip time for messages sent from the originating host to a destination computer.

CONCLUSION
At the end of the experiment, we should be able to become familiar with the packet tracer interface that shown at the introduction above. Compare with packet tracer version previously, the version 5.3 had several new features were added, including BGP. BGP is not part of the CCNA curriculum, but part of the CCNP curriculum. Beside that we also able to learn the methods to use existing topology and built my own procedure in entire lab. As a conclusion in this experiments, the result shown PC 2 and PC 3 dropped due to we just used single ping only at PC0 & PC1 that we set the source at PC 0 and the destination at PC1, so PC 2 and PC3 do not detect the data that had been came. At the end of conclusion, we would like be grateful to our lab instructor MR. NOR AZRIZAL to guide us in overall lesson, that why we can complete our lab nowadays.
