[45] CHAPTER FIFTH Birth Chart and Houses. As birth chart have signs, so have the houses. The First house of the birth chart indicates Eastern horizon. The other house viz second house third house etc. follow in regular order. The 10th house which is overhead, is called the Zenith, the 7th house represents the Western horizon, while the 4th house is caiied the Nadir. The point where the Sun rises in the east is called Ascendant -or the lst house; the Sun is in the 10th house at noon, it is in the 7th house when it sets, and it reaches the 4th house at the local midnight. The half portion of the chart on the right side is called the visible hemisphere; that on the left is called the invisible hemisphere. Though the ecliptic oi: the path of the Sun is circular in the heaven, the chaxt are often drawn in square forms for the sake of convenience.

Hence it becomes essential to know whether a planet is powerful, weak or ineffective, even though it may be bene t, at the time of,bitth. 1. A planet of (l or 29 degrees in a horoscope is called ineffective. Such planet is called ineifective, i. e. it has no effect and cannot form combination.
