Cameron Art Museum Presents a Lecture by Eleanor Lanahan on Zelda Fitzgerald, Sunday, February 3, 2012 at 3:00 pm
Wilmington, NCIn tandem with the current exhibition, Sometimes Madness is Wisdom: The Artwork of Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald which is on view through March 10, 2013 Eleanor Lanahan will be at the Cameron Art Museum to give a lecture on her grandmother, Zelda Fitzgerald. Along with being Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgeralds granddaughter, Lanahan is also a writer, illustrator and filmmaker. My grandparents, Scott and Zelda, led colorful lives. I grew up with mementos of their past stored in our attic: shoeboxes of letters, two feather fans, lead soldiers and portfolios full of art. Zelda's paintings also brightened our house. They are especially vivid, nostalgic and balletic works; just as easily I could be describing Zelda herself. Whether she painted New York, Paris, landscapes, fairy tales, paper dolls, or ballet, Zeldas art is a form of autobiography. This talk will allow Zelda to tell her own story as much as possible -- illustrated by photographs and paintings. Also, I hope to explore some myths, inspire young lovers and excite artists of all sorts. Eleanor Lanahan is the author of Scottie, the Daughter of . . .'' and edited a book on her grandmother's art, Zelda. An Illustrated Life.
