Synergy 2012 Nagarjun and Rahul N. II BBM Awesome! Fantastic! Well-organized! Stupendous! Superb! Scintillating!

! were but a portion of the praise showered on Synergy by the contestants. Synergy is the first ever inter-class management fest. It was organized by the lecturers of the Department of Business Management Mr. Kanishka K., HOD (event head); Ms. Priya (event administrator) and Mr. Mohamed Umair (event coordinator). The theme with which the fest was conceived was Everyone is a participant and every one is a winner. The fest was organized for the students of Business Management, on the 27th and 28th of January. With time constraints playing against the spirit of the students, Synergy spilled over into an unexpected third day, the 7th of February (the event Brain Storm and the valedictory celebration were held on the 7th of February). Students from all three years took part in this fest and went head to head in the events, with great enthusiasm and fervor. The fest consisted of seven events "The Catalyst" (Economic Problem Solving), Brain Storm (Business Quiz), "Genesis" (Product Launch), "B-Plan" (Business Plan), "The Ambassador" (Best Manager) and "The Duke" (Human Resource Manager). The students in each class were divided into groups of six, forming nineteen teams in all. Day-1: The first day of Synergy began with the formal inauguration; the fest in truth began with the hand-out of preliminary round information to the contestants four days earlier. The inauguration began at five-thirty in the evening and was presided over by Fr. Peter S.J., the Principal of St. Josephs College of Business Administration (SJCBA); Prof. Gracelet Stanly, Principal of St. Josephs Evening College; Mr. Joseph Roche, Controller of Examinations; and Mr. Kanishka K., HOD Department of Business Management. Fr. Peter S.J. was the chief guest for the occasion and he displayed the generosity, magnanimity and love that the Jesuit fathers are known for. Keeping in mind that many of the students of St. Joseph's Evening College are economically weak, he proposed that when they graduated, on applying to SJCBA he would ensure they received a concession of one lakh rupees. The proceedings on the first day were the preliminary rounds for all the events and the Icebreaker. Icebreaker, as the name suggests, served to introduce the nineteen teams to their counterparts in a colorful manner. The preliminaries were, for the most part, written rounds. The only on-stage round for the day was the first round of the best manager event "The Ambassador". The round required the contestants to learn about a famous entrepreneur and play them to a panel of judges. The judges in turn would question the contestants on current affairs relating to the organization and life of the personality. Day-2: Untouched by weariness, the contestants returned with enthusiasm and energy. The second day began at three in the afternoon with the second round of "The Ambassador", where they were told to promote a product in a foreign market with adverse conditions to the success of the product. The events were all conducted in rooms 301, 302 and 303. The on-stage rounds were also conducted, in part, in the Loyola Hall. "The Duke's (HR Manager) interview round was conducted, immediately followed by conflict management, trying the contestants' stamina. "B-Plan", "The Catalyst" and "Genesis" were all patronized by a large numbers of students. "B-Plan" (Business plan) saw the launch of some unique enterprises while "Genesis" (Product launch) saw some befittingly new and amazing products; specifically those absent from India but available abroad. "The Catalyst" saw the contestants put forward their solutions to combating 'Unemployment in India'. The day was concluded with the final round of "The Ambassador"

the much awaited Stress Round. Here the contestants faced a panel of judges who tested their ability to withstand the stress levied upon them by a dissatisfied boss. Day-3: The event Brain Storm (the Business Quiz) was held at six in the evening on the 7th of February, in the Loyola Hall. Mr. Mohamed Umair, the event coordinator, was the Quiz-master. Upon the conclusion of Brain Storm, the valedictory celebrations began. The chief guests were the Principal, Prof. Gracelet Stanly and the Administrator, Fr. Sunith Prabhu. They handed the trophies to the contestants who had successfully supplanted their competition.
