Sequencing treatment(SBR)
SBR Sequencing Batch Reactor principle of operation: Biological processes take place in subsequent phases in one reactor Controlled input of wastewater is fed to reactor Adapted in an optimal way to fluctuating amounts and loads Containing high level of performance buffer Relatively low expences for technical equipment Process control is friendly with modern control systems Simple operation and low level of maintenance

History of SBR technology progress

In 1914 first SBR plants in England In 1915 first SBR plants in USA Since 1920 previously installed SBR treatment plants have been reconstructed to plants with continous treatment technologies because of complicated control without automation facilities In 1950 - new development stage in Netherlands In 1960 new impulse with better evaluation of cycle duration, the term of SBR comes into force In 1985 rediscovered for wastewater treatment in Germany Starting 1995 SBR technology is rapidly spreading in Germany Since 2000 have been installed more than 200 SBR plants in Germany. Trends of spreading are observed. Since 2006 small SBR plants for 4-400 PE have been started installing in Lithuania

Advantages of AQUAmax and SBR technology

All the phases of treatment process (denitrification, nitrification, reduction of organic substances, biological phosphorus elimination and sedimentation) take place in the same tank by determined stages. Smart control system allows adjust operating parameters to real conditions. Excessive flows usually cause problems for continuous wastewater treatment systems. SBR technology with separate buffer tank avoids these problems. Sedimentation of active sludge is proceeding in almost ideal conditions as untreated wastewater cant flow into SBR tank and provoke mixing or other turbulent occurences. Sampling. As the pumping out process is of a short duration only, the treated water is collected into a suitable container in the filtering tank (accessory: 1.5 l sampling bottle). The container is mounted in the vicinity of the cover and is thus easily accessible from above. Alternatively a container can be deployed in a separate sampling shaft. Energy-saving operation. If, over a period of more than 4 hours, no wastewater flows into the plant, then the system switches automatically into the energysaving holiday operation. The aeration time is reduced to the point that the micro-organisms just have sufficient oxygen available. With normal loading the plant switches back into the operating mode set.

SBR treatment plants for small villages

Main equipment for wastewater treatment from 60 PE up to 400 PE is floating aerators with mixers. Advantages of these aerators: Simple maintenance Submersible motor Floating unit consist of 2 separate parts so this unit can be easily removed or installed via the tank opening with standard (600 mm) diameter The float is secured with pantoon guides and floats only up and down
