1.1.1 Measured value determination

Voltage Three-phase effective value measurement of the star and chain-linked voltages. (Option Y: Single-phase effective value measurement of the synchronization UL1L2.) This unit can be delivered with the following measuring voltage ranges (rated values). The selection is made with the order: Frequency 57/100 (110) V AC 230/400 V AC

Time measurement from the digitally filtered measuring voltages. Three-phase measurement of the frequency if all voltages exceed the nominal value (100 /400 V AC) by 15 %. This guarantees a very fast and very exact measurement of the frequency. However the frequency is still measured correctly even if voltage is only applied to one phase. Three-phase r.m.s. value measurement. Three-phase r.m.s. value measurement, real-time multiplication of the star voltage and conductor current instantaneous values (three-phase measurement) or of the voltage U12 and the current I1 (single-phase measurement). Single-phase measurement, calculation from apparent power and active power. Time measurement between the filtered measuring values of the voltage U12 and the conductor current I1. Timed integration of the measured positive active energy. The counter is controlled in the non-volatile memory and has a reversal-preventing device. The data is saved in the time frame of 3 minutes with a resolution of 1 Wh. The display is automatically adjusted by a transfer of the unit to the total value. In this way a very large counting range of up to a maximum of 4,290 GWh is obtained. The counting is not PTBcalibrated.

b.) Synchronization voltage (Option Y)

NOTE
The connection of the phase voltage L3 to the terminal 72 (synchronization voltage) is required if a.) the generator voltage is connected only as a three-conductor system (V-connection) and b.) a three-phase power measurement of the generator power must occur. If this input for balancing the measuring system is not connected, this results in minor alarms in the three-phase power measurement. There is no effect on function if the voltage L3 is not connected and the power measurement is set to single-phase.

The triggering of different watchdogs can be blocked via a continuously applied high signal on the digital input. This makes sense, for example, if the unit is used as a generator protection device. In this way a triggering can be prevented for the permanently present alarms (e. g undervoltage, underfrequency) on stationary machines. If a blocking is not desired, the digital input should be permanently wired to zero potential. The following functions cannot be blocked via this digital input: Overvoltage watchdog Overfrequency watchdog Centralized alarm

External acknowledgement If the unit does not independently set the relay if the alarm is no longer present, the of the relay via the digital input ... function "auto-clearing relay" must be set to "OFF" (see Chapter 4.5.1 "Autoacknowledgement relay" on page 65).

The function is influenced via the available input signals. Make sure that the signal "Reply: CB is open" is processed in inverted form, i.e., with a closed power circuit breaker it must be available on this input 0 V (Auxiliary contact of the power circuit breaker as a normally closed contact!). Illustrated In the function table are the conditions for switching voltages of 24 V DC. Here a "" means that the signal is not of significance (0 V or 24 V DC). Conditions The function of the device is also dependent, apart from the digital input signals, on the state of the available measured voltages. The particular function must also be activated in parameterization mode:

2.4 Definition of the operating modes (Option Y) 2.4.1 No-load control

The control is carried out with an opened power circuit breaker. The set setpoint values are held constant if no synchronization is possible.

2.4.2 Isolated operation

Control is carried out with the power circuit breaker closed. When the signal "isolated operation" is set, a control at constant voltage and frequency is carried out. If the generator is connected to a constant voltage system with the power circuit breaker closed, the signal "isolated operation" must not be present (0 V DC). The frequency and voltage controllers are thus shut off after the synchronization.

2.4.3 Synchronization power circuit breakers

The power circuit breaker is synchronized with the frequency and voltage correction if the following conditions are simultaneously satisfied: The synchronization function is switched on in parameterization mode, the busbar is under voltage (synchronization voltage), the generator voltage and frequency are within the predetermined limits (threephase), the input "Release CB" is set and the input "Reply: CB is open" is set.

2.4.4 Close power circuit breaker without synchronization (black start CB)
The power circuit breaker is closed without synchronization if the following conditions are simultaneously met: The release "black start CB" in parameterization mode is set to ON, the bus bar is not energized (USS < 5 %, Synchronization voltage), the generator voltage and frequency are within the predetermined limits (threephase), the input "isolated operation" is set, the input "Release CB" is set and the input "Reply: CB is open" is set

2.4.5 Power control (Option B) and power-factor control (Option C)

The control is carried out if the following conditions are simultaneously met: The corresponding controller is switched on in parameterization mode, the input "isolated operation" is not set and the input "Reply: CB is open" is not set.

If the screen "Stoppage" has been parameterized to ON the signal "Release CB" must also be present.

4.1.2 Password (starting with version 2.0xx / 3.0xx)

The unit is equipped with a three-level code and parameterization hierarchy, which enables it to visualize various parameterization screens for different users. A distinction is made between: Code level 0 (CS0) User: Third party This code level enables no access whatsoever to the parameters. The input function is blocked. User: Customer This code level entitles the user to change a few selected parameters. Changing a password is not possible in this case. User: Commissioner With code level 2 the user acquires all access rights, and therefore has direct access to all parameters (viewing and changing). In addition, the user may also set the password for levels 1 and 2 in this level. In this code level, the access protection can be completely deactivated (see below).

Code level 1 (CS1)

Code level 2 (CS2)

NOTE
Once the code level is set, this is not changed, even if the parameterization mode is accessed steady. When an incorrect code number is input, the code level is set to CS0 and the unit is therefore locked for external users (password input on page 27). Two hours after the final operation of the unit, code level CS0 is automatically set. By inputting the corresponding code number, the corresponding level is accessed again.

NOTE (starting with version 2.1x/3.1x)

The parameterization screen "Code number entry" described below appears only if the parameterization screen "Password protection" (see below) is set to ON. Enter code number 0..9999

Enter code number 0000

On accessing the parameterization mode, a code number, which identifies the various users, is first requested. The displayed number XXXX is a random number (RN) and is confirmed with the "Select" button. If the random number has been confirmed with "Select" without being changed, the unit's code level remains as it was. Two four-digit code numbers (0000..9999) exist for changing the code level and setting up new code words for the users. No assignment is required for the "Third party" user level, as the user does not usually receive access to the parameterization level (protected via the code). Password protection (starting with version 2.1x/3.1x) ON/OFF

Password Protection

ON

ON........... Access to parameterization is attained by entering the appropriate password (Code level 0/1/2). If an incorrect code number has been entered, parameterization is blocked. OFF ......... Access to parameterization screens is permanently set to code level 2 and the code number is not queried. This parameter can only be changed if the code number of code level 2 has been entered.

4.2 Basic settings configuration

WARNING!
An incorrect entry can lead to incorrect measuring values!

4.2.1 Parameterization via the lateral plug (Direct parameterization; starting with version 3.0xx)
NOTE
To carry out parameterization via the side plug (direct parameterization), you require a direct parameterization cable (order code "DPC"), the LeoPC 1 program (supplied with the cable) and the corresponding configuration files. Please consult the online help installed when the program is installed for a description of the LeoPC 1 PC program and its setup.

WARNING!
If the following parameter "Direct parameterization" is set to "YES", communication via the interface with terminals X1..X5 is locked. If communication is to be re-established via interface X1..X5 after parameterizing the unit (e. g. CAN bus connection via a gateway GW 4), the following parameter must be set to "NO"! The following limitations also apply: Option Su: Communication via the interface is blocked. Option A6: Analog outputs 3 through 6 are without a function during parameterization. Option A8 or A82: Analog outputs 5 through 8 are without function during parameterization. If communication is to be re-established via the interface after parameterizing the unit or if the analog outputs in question are to function again, the following parameter must be set to "NO"! Parameterization via the parameterization plug YES/NO

Direct parametr. YES

YES ......... A parameterization via the lateral plug is possible, and any CAN bus connection that may be available via terminals X1..X5 is deactivated. The function of available analog outputs is limited. The following conditions must be satisfied for parameterization via the lateral plug: - A connection must be established via the direct parameterization cable between the unit and the PC, - the baud rate of the LeoPC program must be set to 9,600 Baud and - the corresponding parameterization file must be used (file name: "xxxxxxxp.asm"). NO ........... Parameterization via the lateral plug cannot be carried out, and any available CAN bus connection via the terminals X1..X5 is activated. All available analog outputs function unrestrictedly.

4.2.4 Rated voltage/rated frequency configuration (Option G)

Rated voltage 000V
Rated voltage [1] 5..125 V; [4] 10..480 V

The rated voltage is specified with the entry of this value. The rated voltage influences the active range of control. Rated frequency 40.0..70.0Hz

Rated frequency 00,0Hz

On inputting this value, the rated frequency is pre-specified. The rated frequency affects the active range of control.

4.2.5 Current transformer configuration

Current transf. 0000/1
Current transformer 1..9,990/x A

The input of the current conversion ratio is necessary in order to display and control the actual values. The ratio must be selected in such a manner that, at maximum power, at least 60 % of the converter's nominal current flow. A lower percentage may lead to malfunctions. Additional inaccuracies in the control and monitoring functions also occur. {X} / 1 A {X} / 5 A {X} Secondary current = 1 A at primary rated current = {X} A; Secondary rated current = 5 A at primary rated current = {X} A; e. g. from the main series 10, 15, 20, 30, 50 or 75 A and the decimal fractions and multiples of these or the corresponding secondary series with 12.5, 25, 40 or 60 A. 10...9,990 A

Rated current 0000A

Rated current

On entering the value in this screen, the rated current is specified (only the percentage inputs for current monitoring are related to this parameter).

NOTE
With a positive active power, a positive active current flows in the "k-l" direction in the current transformer. Positive reactive power means that with a positive effective direction, inductive reactive (lagging current) flows in the effective direction. If the unit is connected to the terminals of a generator and if the outgoing circuits of the current transformer facing the generator are connected to "k", the unit shows a positive active power when the generator gives off active power. In this regard, heed the explanations in Chapter 2.5 on page 18. Rated power 5 kW..32,000 kW

Rated power 00000kW

On entry of the value in this screen, the rated power is specified. An accurate input of the rated power is absolutely necessary since very many measurements and monitoring operations are related to this value (e. g. the percentage inputs for the power monitoring). Power measurement single-phase/three-phase

Power measuring three-phase

With regard to the power measurement, single-phase or three-phase measurement may be selected. If "single-phase power measurement" is set, the current and the voltage in phase L12 are used for power measurement. If "three-phase power measurement" is set, all three currents and the relevant voltages are used for power measurement. Single-phase power measurement: P = 3 U12 I1 power factor.

4.3 Control functions configuration 4.3.1 Synchronization function (Option Y)

Function "Synchronization" The electrical advance angle at which the output of the connect command is carried out is calculated within the unit such that the associated advance time always remains constant, regardless of the momentary differential frequency. If both differential voltage and differential frequency between the two voltage systems do not exceed the set values, the connect command can be output, taking into consideration the following conditions: The momentary voltage effective values of the two systems must each be greater than 75 % and less than 112.5 % of the established setpoint voltage. The set maximum permissible differential voltage between the two systems must not be exceeded. The set maximum permissible differential frequency between the two systems must not be exceeded. The electrical angle between two equal phases must be less than the currently permissible phase-displacement angle (slip-dependent).

a.) Parameterization screens

Synchronization functions ON/OFF

ON........... The synchronization functions are active, and the following screens of this option are indicated. OFF ......... No synchronization occurs and the subsequent screens of this option are not indicated. Max. permissible differential frequency for synchronization 0.02..0.49 Hz

Synchronization df max 0,00Hz

The prerequisite of a connect command's being output is negative deviation from the set differential frequency. This value is valid for positive slip. Positive slip means: Generator frequency greater than mains frequency (synchronization voltage). Minimum allowable differential frequency for synchronization 0.00..-0.49 Hz

Synchronization df min -0,00Hz

The prerequisite of a connect command's being output is negative deviation from this set differential frequency. The value is valid for negative slip. Negative slip means: Generator frequency smaller than mains frequency (synchronization voltage). Max. permissible differential voltage 0.1..15.0 %

Synchronization dU max 00,0%

The percentage indication that is set refers to the rated active power. To ensure that a connect command will be issued, the actual value must fall below the entered differential voltage.

Signal CB On Logic impulse

Output for circuit breaker synchronization

Continuous/pulse

Continuous The relay "synchronization" can be looped directly into the locking circuit of the power circuit breaker. After the connect pulse has been output and the reply of the power circuit breaker has been received, the relay "synchronization" remains picked up. The relay drops back out independently as soon as the input "Reply: CB is open" indicates the "open" state. The opening of the power circuit breaker via this relay is not possible. Pulse ....... the relay "Synchronization" outputs a connection pulse. Power circuit breaker locking must be carried out via an external locking circuit. The reply of the power circuit breaker is used to detect the closed contacts.

NOTE
Release of locking occurs if the generator voltage drops below 75 % UN, the amount of the electrical angle between generator and mains voltage exceeds 14 degrees or the input "Reply power circuit breaker is open is set. The release of locking is not carried out by triggering an active watchdog. In this way the watchdog that is supposed to open locking can be freely selected via an external circuit. Min. pulse time of the connection relay 50..250 ms

Synchronization Time pulse>000ms

The duration of the connect impulse can be adjusted to the subordinate switching unit. The minimum time by which the connect command is output is set here. Inherent delay of power circuit breaker 40..300 ms

Gen.circ.breaker Pick-up t. 000ms

The set value corresponds to the lead time of the connect command. The connect command will be issued independently of the differential frequency at the entered time before the synchronization point.

4.3.2 Black start function (Option Y)

Function "Black start" Closing the power circuit breaker can occur even if the synchronization voltage is not present. The connect command is then output while taking into account the following conditions: The applied generator voltage deviates from the setpoint voltage by a settable difference. The applied generator frequency deviates from the setpoint frequency by a settable difference. The applied synchronization voltage amounts to a maximum of 5 % of the setpoint voltage. The digital input "Release isolated operation" signals that the unit is switched to a separate network. Moreover, the input "Release CB" must be set and the input "Reply: CB is open" must signal an open switch.

CAUTION!
1. The measuring voltages are normally protected. A tripped automatic circuit breaker can then lead to the unit executing an black start. In this case the unit would, among other things, switch to an asynchronous voltage, which can lead to substantial damage to the system. Therefore, the release of the black start function must be locked via external safety measures if a tripped automatic circuit breaker is detected. (Removal of the power circuit breaker or isolated operation release signal).

NOTE
If several machines supply one isolated system, the function "black start" is only activated for one unit (= ON) and must be turned off for all other controllers operating in parallel to the busbar. The black start function can indeed be activated for several units if a higher-order control unit is available that carries out a reciprocal locking via the digital inputs "Release CB" (the signal "Release CB" can only be simultaneously present in each case for one unit). Black start power circuit breaker ON/OFF

Black busbar Operation ON

ON........... A black start is carried out in the event of a voltage-free busbar and a set isolated operation release. The prerequisite of this is the detection of an operating condition that corresponds to the specifications. The subsequent screens of this option are displayed. OFF ......... No black start is carried out, and the subsequent screens of this option are not displayed. Maximum differential frequency for CB black start 0.05..5.00 Hz

Black busbar op. df max = 0,00Hz

The prerequisite of the output of the connect command is that the generator frequency may, at most, deviate from the setpoint by the set value. Max. differential voltage for CB black start 0.0..20.0 %

Black busbar op. dU max = 00,0%

The percentage indication that is set refers to the set secondary voltage. The prerequisite of the output of the connect command is that the generator voltage may, at most, deviate from the setpoint by the set value.

d.) Droop
Freq. controller Droop 00,0%
Controller droop characteristic curve 00.0..20.0 %

If the generator with frequency control is to be operated in parallel with other generators, this is only possible with the setting of a droop characteristic curve. If, for all machines operated on the isolated system, both the same setpoint and the same droop are set, in the controlled state the required active power is distributed in equal parts to all machines in proportion to their rated power. This operating mode also enables active-power control in mains-parallel operation. Rated power: Setpoint frequency: Droop 500 kW 50.0 Hz 5.0 %

Example

Active power 0 kW Frequency is adjusted to (50.0 Hz (5.0%*0) = 50.0 Hz. Active power +250 kW = +50 % Frequency is adjusted to (50.0Hz 2.5 %) = 48.75 Hz. Active power +500 kW = +100 % Frequency is adjusted to (50.0Hz 5.0 %) = 47.50 Hz.

Power controller Setpoint 00000kW

c.) Setpoint setting general

Power controller Ramp 000%/s
Active-power controller setpoint ramp 0..100 %/s

The setpoint change is supplied to the controller via a ramp in percent per second in reference to the generator rated power (see Page 30). The slope of the ramp is used to alter the rate at which the controller modifies the setpoint value. The more rapidly the change in the setpoint is to be carried out, the greater the value input here must be. Active-power controller maximum power limitation 10..120 %

Power limitation P max. 000%

If the maximum active generator load is to be limited, a percentage, based on the rated generator power, (see page 30), will be entered into this screen, in accordance with the specified setting limits. The controller adjusts the unit in such a manner that this value is not exceeded. The value "Pmax" only limits the setpoint of the activepower controller, and thus is without significance in isolated operation.

d.) Three-position controller (standard)

Power controller Insens. 00,0%
Active-power controller insensitivity 0.1..25.0 %

In operation in parallel with the mains, the active power is controlled in such a manner that, in its regulated state, the actual value deviates from the active-power setpoint by the percentage value of the sensitivity setting at the most. In this case, the percentage value refers to the generator rated power. Active-power controller insensitivity reduction 1.0..9.9

Power controller Sens.red. *0,0

If, following the adjustment of the controller, no further adjusting pulse has been output for at least 5 s the insensitivity is reduced by the input factor.
For example: In the case of an insensitivity of 2.5 % and a factor of 2.0, the insensitivity is increased after 5 s to 5.0 %. If the control deviation subsequently exceeds 5.0 %, again, the controller's original sensitivity is automatically reset (2.5 %). This input can be used, in the event of small control deviations, to avoid unnecessarily frequent actuation processes, thereby protecting the adjustment facility.

d.) Droop
Volt. controller Droop 00,0%
Droop characteristic curve 00.0..20.0 %

If the generator with voltage control is to be operated in parallel with other generators, this is only possible by setting a droop characteristic curve. If the same setpoint and the same droop are set for all machines operated on the isolated system, the required reactive power in the adjusted state is distributed in equal proportions to all machines in relation to their rated power. This operating mode also enables reactivepower control in mains-parallel operation. Rated power: Voltage setpoint: Droop 500 kW 400 V 5.0 %

Example

Reactive power 0 kvar Voltage is adjusted to (400 V (5.0%*0) = 400 V. Reactive power +250 kvar (ind) = +50 % Voltage is adjusted to (400 V 2.5 %) = 390 V. Reactive power +500 kvar (ind) = +100 % Voltage is adjusted to (400 V 5.0 %) = 380 V.

Setp. pow. fact. Ramp 0,00/s

(only with Option G/Gu)

The setpoint ram indicates how rapidly (per second) the power-factor setpoint is supposed to approach its limit value. The change is linear.

b.) Three-position controller (standard)

Pow.fact. contr. Insens. 00,0%
Power-factor controller insensitivity 0.5..25.0 %

The unit automatically calculates the reactive power amount that goes with the power factor setpoint power factor Setpoint. The reactive power is controlled in mainsparallel operation such that the actual value in the adjusted state deviates from the internally calculated setpoint by the percentage of insensitivity that has been set. The percentage value in this case refers to the generator rated power (see page 30). Power-factor controller insensitivity reduction 1.0..9.9

Pow.fact. contr. Sens.red. *0,0

If, following the adjustment of the controller, no further adjusting pulse has been output for at least 5 s the insensitivity is reduced by the input factor.
For example: In the case of an insensitivity of 2.5 % and a factor of 2.0 the insensitivity is increased after 5 s to 5.0 %. If the control deviation subsequently exceeds 5.0 %, again, the controller's original sensitivity is automatically reset (2.5 %). This input can be used, in the event of small control deviations, to avoid unnecessarily frequent actuation processes, thereby protecting the adjustment facility.

Pow.fact. contr. Time pulse>000ms

Minimum power-factor controller ON period

10..250 ms

The minimum ON period of the relay should be selected in such a manner that the downstream adjustment facility responds reliably to the pulse that has been set according to the set time. The smallest possible time must be set in order to ensure optimum control behavior.

4.3.8 Stoppage
Function "Power reduction with stoppage command" a.) Stoppage in mains parallel operation (only with Option B) The unit detected first the state "Mains-parallel operation" (Power circuit breaker closed, release isolated operation is not set). If the signal "Release CB" is not present, a constant-power control (Option W) or power-factor control (Option C) occurs. By removing the signal "Release CB" it is possible to reduce the active-power setpoint to 0 % of the rated power. When the power-factor controller is active, the power factor is adjusted to 1.00. b.) Stoppage in isolated parallel operation (only with Option W or O) The unit first recognizes the state "Isolated operation" (Power circuit breaker closed, release isolated operation is set). If the signal "Release CB" is present, an active (Option W) or reactive-power distribution (Option O). By removing the signal "Release CB" it is possible that the machine in question no longer participates in the distribution control and its active power is reduced to 0 % of the rated power. The other machines operating in parallel to the busbar try to absorb this power. In the adjusted state, the machine affected by the "Stoppage" command has output its active power completely to the remaining machines. c.) Message "Shutdown achieved" After reaching 10 % of the rated power, a "Stoppage" message can be output via the relay manager, thereby opening the power circuit breaker.

The setpoint change is supplied to the controller via a ramp in percent per second in relation to the generator rated power. The slope of the ramp is used to alter the rate at which the controller modifies the setpoint value. The more rapidly the change in the setpoint is to be carried out, the greater the value must be. The value entered here is only valid during the stoppage phase.

4.3.9 Active-power distribution (Option W)

Function The function in isolated parallel operation ensures an even distribution of the active power to all machines operating in parallel to the busbar. Each controller involved in distribution control influences the machine to which it is assigned in such a manner that the rated frequency (main control variable) which has been set remains constant. All units are interlinked via the terminal Psum (terminal 57), via which any deviation in active power (generator power) can be determined for each machine. This secondary control variable is taken into consideration on controlling the frequency. The weighting, with which the secondary and the main control variable (= "reference variable") are processed, can be set via a factor. In controlled state, the isolated system has the set rated frequency, whereby the total active power (in reference to the relevant nominal power) is subdivided equally amongst those gensets involved in distribution control. A distribution of the reactive power is not occurring; the voltage controller of the machines must therefore be equipped for operation in parallel (e. g. droop mode). The following variables absolutely must be set for all units involved in distribution control at the same values for each: - the setpoint value for the frequency controller and the - Function "Active-power distribution" (must be set to "ON"). - Moreover, the "Release isolated operation" must be set for all units. Active-power distribution ON/OFF

Note

Prerequisite

ON........... Active power is distributed to several generators operating in parallel. The generator outputs are distributed depending on the set value. The subsequent screens of this option are displayed. OFF ......... No distribution is carried out, and the subsequent screens of this option are not displayed. Active-power distribution reference variable 10..99 %

Act. load share Frequency 00%

Increasing the weighting factor increases the influence of the main control variable (frequency) on the control. The smaller the factor which is set, the greater the influence of the secondary control variable (generator active power). The behavior of frequency control (isolated operation) is determined by the main control variable, that of active-power distribution by the secondary control variable.

4.3.10 Reactive-power distribution (Option O)

Function In isolated operation in parallel with other gensets, the function ensures an even distribution of reactive power to all machines operating in parallel with the busbar. Each controller involved in distribution control influences the machine to which it is assigned in such a manner that the rated voltage (main control variable) which has been set remains constant. All units are interlinked via terminal Psum (terminal 57), via which any deviation in reactive power (generator power) can be determined for each machine. This secondary control variable is taken into consideration on controlling the voltage. The weighting, with which the secondary and the main control variable (= "reference variable") processed, can be set via a factor. In the adjusted state, the isolated system has the set rated power, the total reactive power being divided in equal parts among the machines involved in the distribution control. A distribution of the active power is not carried out; the speed controllers must therefore be equipped for operation in parallel (e. g. droop mode). The following variables absolutely must be set to equal values for all units involved in the distribution control: - the setpoint for the voltage controller and the - function "reactive-power distribution" (must be set to "ON"). - moreover, the signal "Release isolated operation" must be set for all units. Reactive-power distribution ON/OFF

Note

Prerequisite

Reactive power Load share ON

ON........... Reactive power is distributed to several generators operating in parallel. The generator outputs are distributed depending on the set value. The subsequent screens of this option are displayed. OFF ......... No distribution is carried out, and the subsequent screens of this option are not displayed. Reactive-power distribution reference variable 10..99 %

React.load share Voltage = 00%

Increasing the weighting factor increases the influence of the main control variable (voltage) on the controlling. The smaller the factor which is set, the greater the influence of the secondary control variable (generator reactive power). The behavior of voltage control (isolated operation) is determined by the main control variable, that of reactive-power distribution by the secondary control variable.

The unit can monitor either the phase voltages (four-conductor system) or the phase-to-phase voltages (three-conductor system). Typically, the phase-voltages are monitored in the low-voltage system (400 V version) (Screen text: (Phase-N)), and the phase-to-phase voltages are monitored in the mid-tap voltage system (100 V version) (screen text: (ph-ph)). a monitoring of phase-to-phase voltage is primarily necessary if an earth alarm is not supposed to trigger the voltage watchdog in the isolated or compensated system. The screen "voltage measurement" on this screen has only the effect indicated under . The settings in the screen "Monitoring for.." have the following effect on the parameterization screens: Phase-neutral ........... The voltage on terminals 1 through 4 is measured as a fourconductor system and all subsequent screens regarding voltage monitoring are related to the conductor-zero voltage (UL-N). In the parameterization screen, this is indicated by the supplement "(Phase-N)". Phase to phase......... If the voltage system connected to terminal 1 through 4 is a three-conductor system, this setting must be chosen. The measurement screen and all subsequent screens regarding voltage monitoring are related to the phase-to-phase voltage (UL-L). 4.4.7 Phase shift monitoring (Option V)

A phase shift is a sudden change in the voltage curve, and may be caused by a major generator load change. In this case, the measuring circuit detects a change in the cycle duration once. This change in the cycle duration is compared with a calculated mean value from previous measurements. Monitoring encompasses all three phases. The threshold value in degrees specifies the difference in time between the mean and the current value in reference to a full cycle. Monitoring can be set in various manners. The phase shift watchdog may be used as an additional facility for decoupling from the mains. The minimum voltage at which the phase shift is activated is 70 % of the rated secondary voltage. 4.4.15 Load jump monitoring (Option Zw)

NOTE
All power percentage data are in relation to the rated power (see page 30) Function "Active-power jump not within the permissible range" The unit detects the three-phase active power via the 3 phase voltages and the 3 conductor currents and, when there is a sudden jump in the active power, triggers if the change exceeds an adjustable threshold value. No triggering is activated for slow changes in the active power or for sudden jumps in the reactive power. (The active power change must exceed the threshold value within 2 measuring cycles for triggering to occur.) If the measured value is larger than the threshold value, the message "Pow.shift+" or "Pow.shift-" appears. These messages can be separately addressed via the relay manager and can be suppressed using the digital input "Block watchdog". Load jump monitoring ON/OFF

The triggering of various watchdogs can be blocked via a high signal applied on the digital input. This is appropriate, for example, if the unit is used as a generator protection device. Thus, triggering can be prevented for alarms that are permanently applied when the machine is at a standstill (e. g. undervoltage, underfrequency). If blocking is not desired, the digital input should be permanently wired to zero potential. The following functions cannot be blocked via this digital input: Overvoltage Over frequency

NOTE
The parameterization of the outputs is carried out for all relays in the same way. The parameterization, for example is illustrated for the relay 1 through 3. The relay 1 is always linked to the message "Operational readiness" linked. Function of the relay 1, 2 and 3 A/R

Funct. relay 123 (R=releases) RRR

A distinction between different control principles is made with the selection between operating and idle current contact. An operating current output can be used if a wire break can lead to no great alarm; the idle current output performs advanced tasks e. g. for safety-relevant lines. The relay 1 is permanently parameterized to R (idle current) and cannot be changed. The description of the differences between operating and idle current output is made further above.

4.6 Pulse output of the positive active energy (Option M)

NOTE
The pulse output of the positive active energy is not PTB-calibrated. If you want to detect and output the positive and negative reactive energy, please use the product UMT 1 of LeonhardReglerbau GmbH. The pulse output supplies signals that are set to exactly 100 ms. Output of the kWh pulse positive/negative

Pulse/kWH Logic negative

The output of the kWh pulse can be made both negatively (per positive kWh pulse, the open collector output is opened [terminal 60/61]) and positively (per positive kWh pulse, the open-collector output [terminal 60/61] is closed). Pulse per positive kWh 0.1..150.0

Active energy Pulse/kWh 000,0

Per measured unit of the positive active energy (kWh), the pulses set here are output. (Ex.: If 20 kWh have been measured and "Pulse/kWh 020.00" have been set, a total of 20 kWh 20 pulses/kWh = 400 have been output. The evaluation of the pulses must be externally carried out.) RESET kWh measurement ON/OFF

RESET kWh ON

If the setting "ON" is selected, the operation counter can reset this to zero in automatic mode by simultaneously pressing the buttons "Select" and "Digit".

NOTE
The resetting of the kWh counter is carried out in Automatic mode via ... making the kWh counter visible in the lower display lines and via pressing buttons "Select" and "Digit" for at least 5 seconds.

The result, after successful resetting, is "50.00 0000.0 kWh".

4.7 Analog outputs (Options A1/2/3/4/6/8)

NOTE
The joint use of the analog outputs, the interfaces, and the digital inputs depends on their combination. The possible combinations listed in the introduction must be heeded.

CAUTION!
The function of the analog outputs is limited during the parameterization via the lateral plug (Version 3.xxx). The parameter "Direct parameter" must be set to "NO", so that all analog outputs are available (see also Chapter 4.2.1 "Parameterization via the lateral plug (Direct parameterization; starting with version 3.0xx)" on page 28). It is possible to assign a completely specific measuring variable to each available analog output using the buttons (possible measured variables according to the following table). The output can occur at -20/0/4..20 mA analog outputs either as -20..+20 mA, as a 0..20 mA value or as a 4..20 mA value; at -10/0..10 V analog outputs there is the possibility of the output as a -10..+10 V value or as a 0..10 V value. The values to be output can be scaled via an upper and a lower input value, the scaling being linear. The inputs can also have signs.

5 Commissioning
DANGER!!!
When commissioning the unit, please observe the five safety rules which apply to the handling of live equipment. Make sure that you know how to provide first aid in current-related accidents and that you know where the first-aid kit and the nearest telephone are. Never touch any live components of the system or on the back of the system:

LIFE THREATENING

WARNING!
The unit may only be commissioned by a qualified technician. The "EMERGENCY-SHUTOFF" function must function safely before the commissioning and must not depend on the particular machine.

CAUTION!
1. Connect the unit according to the terminal diagram. Prior to commissioning, check that all measuring voltages are correctly connected with regard to phases. The rotating field must be measured. Any lack or incorrect connection of measuring voltages or other signals may lead to incorrect functions and damage the unit as well as engines and components connected to the unit. Procedure 2. After connecting the unit and checking whether all measuring voltages have been connected to the correct phases, the operating voltage (e. g. 24 VDC) must be applied. The LED "Mode" lights up. 3. After applying the measuring variables, the device displays the various measuring values that you can check using a measuring device. 4. By simultaneously pressing the two buttons "Digit" and "Cursor" you arrive in input and test mode. Now enter the operating data according to the setting ranges indicated below while using the parameterization screen (Sealing "OFF"). 5. Check the synchronization (only with Option Y): a.) Interrupt the "Connect" signal for the power circuit breaker. b.) The mains voltage (synchronization voltage) must be within the permissible limits. c.) Apply the "Release CB" signal. The synchronization will then be started. d.) If the generator voltage is above 50 % of the set rated value, the frequency controller begins to control. The voltage controller inserts at 45 Hz. The control parameter should be selected so that the set value is optimally adjusted. e.) In the moment a connection command is output, the differential voltage between the corresponding conductors must be equal to zero. This check must be carried out for all three phases, in order to check the correctness of the rotating field. f.) After a successful check, the "Connect" signal can be connected again. 6. Check of the black start function Prior to checking the black start function, the output of the "Connect" signal must be interrupted.

The indicated number XXXX is a random number (ZU) and is confirmed using the "Select" button. If the random number was confirmed without modification using "Select", the code level remains as it was. Two four-digit code numbers (0000..9999) exist for changing the code level and setting up new code words for the users. No assignment is required for the "third party" user level, as the user does not usually receive access to the parameterization level (protected via the code). 8. The transmitted number has a sign (When connected correctly - = capacitive, + = inductive; 100 means power factor = 1) This control bit is ignored, if the screen "Blocking via interface" is set to "OFF". 3 Corresponds to the digital input "Release isolated operation" (terminal 73/74). 4 Option Y/G: Corresponds to the digital input "Release CB"/"Release controller" (terminal 30/31). 5 Corresponds to the button "Acknowledge" (edge). 6 Here, a "00" must always be sent. If these bits are not set to "00", no later than 15 seconds after the alarm "Interface triggered" is sent (only if the screen "Interface monitoring" is set to "ON"). 7 Example: 4856 = 48.56 Hz 8 The voltage setpoint relates to the set secondary voltage. For voltage transformers 10.0 kV/100 V a voltage setpoint value of 100 V must be set (corresponds to USetpoint = 10.0 kV)

Data String length 8 bits Stop bits ....................... 1 bit Parity bits ..................... 1 bit with straight parity Data format .................. 16-bit binary values Transmission rate ......... 9,600 Baud. Other baud rates on request. The records are transferred cyclically. When the transmitter is ready for data transmission, it notifies the receiver of this by switching its control line RTS to "ON". The prerequisite of this is that no data are received (CTS = "OFF"). The receiver registers this status and indicates its readiness to receive by switching its RTS line to "ON". The transmitter can then begin transmitting when it detects this "ON" status on its CTS line. As soon as the receiver withdraws its RTS signal (RTS = "OFF"), the transmitter interrupts its transmission and waits until the receiver is ready to receive again. The initialization conflict (both subscribers set the RTS line simultaneously) and time-out (one subscriber waits in vain for a reply) must be taken into consideration.

Generally

No IDs can be assigned twice in the system. This applies for all devices coupled to the bus system. Likewise all ID's set on the unit must be set to different values. Procedure for base-ID transmission All units available in the bus system are assigned to the same "Base ID transmission". The types of information are group in this way. Example: The base ID transmission = 800 is used with all units. The individual ID's are assigned to the various unit numbers.

Unit number 1: ID = 801 Unit number 2: ID = 802 etc. Procedure for base ID control The same procedure applies for base-ID control. (Standard value 224)
