Plan a Whistle-Stop Wave-Along Event During National School Choice Week

You can create an official greeting party for National School Choice Weeks historic whistle-stop tour!

National School Choice Week 2013 will shine an unprecedented spotlight on the need for effective educational options for all children. In addition to more than 3,000 independently planned events and activities during National School Choice Week 2013, school choice supporters will hold a nationwide, whistle-stop train tour. Traveling from Los Angeles to New York from Jan. 25 to Feb. 2, the National School Choice Week Special will include major events in 14 cities. National School Choice Week is offering individuals and organizations the opportunity to create official greeting parties for the train, as it stops briefly at different Amtrak stations along our historic route. These parties will be the official greeting parties for the train, which is sure to generate significant interest at every place it stops.

Get Involved and Plan a Wave-Along

To help maximize interest in the tour, we encourage you to plan a Whistle-Stop Wave-Along event greeting the train as it pulls into stations along the route. You will have the opportunity to chat with National School Choice Week team members who are traveling on the train and, if time permits, tour the historic railcar. For students, we will provide a special whistle-stop curriculum, educating them about the history of rail travel in the United States and the use of whistle-stop tours to advance important causes.
