Climbing vertical Falls from height ladders and working on Being struck by silo platforms falling equipment
Personnel working above ground level kept to the minimum possible. Personnel working in exposed areas will be secured by lines and/or harnesses compatible with B.A. and supervised at all times. Equipment not in use returned to ground level as soon as practicable. The Officer-in-Charge or appointed safety officer will ensure the area below personnel working aloft is kept clear at all times. All personnel to don suitable PPE. All personnel are under full supervision. An aerial appliance may be order on if necessary. Appoint safety officer to supervise safe working practises.

Additional appliances and personnel may be ordered on if necessary. A supervisory officer should attend. All personnel aware of evacuation procedures. Cordon off area. Isolation of non-essential services. Ambulance in attendance Restrict number of personnel in confined space. Resuscitation equipment immediately available for rescuers/casualties. Monitoring of atmosphere. Safety line/harness to be secured to rescuers and supervised at all times. Visual or radio contact to be kept with rescuers at all times.

Bridging of contents Hidden voids Hazardous atmospheres Use intrinsically safe communications and equipment. Illumination of entry points and confined space. Appointment of safety officer to look out for collapse of silo contents. All personnel receive instruction and information on the construction and hazards associated with silos.

Rescuers becoming fatigued, especially if operation is protracted Wholetime Contact with body Retained fluids Volunteer/Civil Defence Dangerous Public machinery e.g. Personnel becoming trapped in worm screw feeder or top or bottom cutting arm
Use mechanical aid if possible. Appropriate personnel should don suitable PPE to include positive pressure breathing apparatus, fire kit, hard hat, gloves and protective footwear. All personnel under supervision by their Crew Commanders Ventilation of space. Additional line/harness for casualty. Relief personnel and refreshments On site expertise, equipment and materials.
