ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE!

I just cannot watch enough of the movie Its a wonderful life. Jimmy Stewart, born in Indiana Pennsylvania, played his part so real with full emotions that he actually makes my heart ache each time I watch it. The movie was released in 1946. This was a period of American history when family values were in general revered and life was of the outmost importance. Frank Capra, the director, expressed his point very eloquently how important is for a human being to be born and grow to adult hood. George Bailey, the main character in the movie, at the lowest point in his life, came to the conclusion that he would have been better off if he were never born. He had not realized the great impact his birth and life had on other peoples lives. That goes with all of us. Just think. If for one reason or another, we were never born the lives of everyone we know would have been different or even none existent. Had George Bailey not been born he wont have had any children. Had we not been born, our own children wont be around today and generation upon generations would be destroyed. On July 4, 1776 the unanimous Declaration of the thirteen United States of America was signed by representative of each thirteen states. In the Declaration they eloquently state that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. There had to be a reason why the first Right mentioned is the right to Life and I believe it is simply because the beginning of life is the future of a people as a whole. Take for example the birth of Julius Caesar, a leading Roman historical figure. Caesars mother sacrificed her own life so that her son Julius lived. Caesar changed the world of his time. Ever since then there have been countless mothers who have put their lives on line to make sure their child would get a chance to live. The end (legal) of this concept started in 1973 in the United States when, somehow, the Supreme Court determined that the right of privacy was more valuable than a childs pursuit of life. It seems to me that 1973 was the year of the beginning of our own modern time dark ages. The new dark ages when the terminating (killing) a human life as become acceptable to many and in doing so the consequences have been many. Some of them will we never know. For example: it might be possible that the individual who could have discovered the cure for cancer or of the individual who would have come up with the solution to our energy problems has already been killed, we will never know. Another consequence of the wanton killing of countless children before they are born is the exploitation of women in that a womans body has become a money maker instrument. The pursuit of terminating the life of an unborn child could result also, in many cases, in the death of the mother. The most recent case of a late term baby whose life was terminated is the one reported by Reuters on January 6, 2012 (Late term abortion doctor arraigned for murder in Maryland). We have also read about the Philadelphia case reported by the CBS Philly News (Philadelphia abortion doctor charged with 8 counts of murder) January 19, 2011. In this case the life of the mother also came to an end because the botched up abortion performed. How many times have we heard if a woman is raped shouldnt she have the right to terminate the life she carries? I think this question is best answered not by any of us but let those who were conceived in rape tell us how they feel to be alive. Had her mothers abortion succeeded I would have not had the privilege to talk to her, her own children wont exist, her husband wont have her as wife and who knows how many other lives she has touched. I always wondered about the rape question. Humans have been around for thousands of years. Knowing about the violent history of humans, how many of us going back in times are not a product of rape? We have been probably conceived in rape a millennia ago. Does anybody have any regrets? Life, as tough as it is some time, is definitely wonderful. Is not wonderful when, in the morning, you open your eyes and you get to see your loved ones, or the shining rays of the morning sun thru one of your bedroom windows or even those snowflakes that by the end of the day will let you admire mothers nature winter landscape? It is good to be alive. Just think. The next conceived child might be the one who will save the world from total destruction. Sure there might be some bad apples in the process but I rather take the chance in giving life instead on taking it away. This is why on January 23, 2012 there will be the annual gathering of thousands upon thousands of people in Washington D.C. to express their love for new life.
