Read More 7th Nov 2012 - 2G spectrum auction price too high will end on first day The reserve price of Rs. 14,000 crore set for airwaves is too high and the auction of 2G spectrum will be over on the first day itself, Bharti group Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said on Wednesday. Reserve price is too high and we have been saying that since day one, Mittal told reporters here on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on India. Next week, the government is auctioning spectrum at a minimum bid price of Rs. 14,000 crore for 5 MHz of airwaves for all the countrys 22 telecom zones. Read More 7th Nov 2012 - Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, Videocon and Telewings will bid for spectrum Bharti Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, Videocon and Telenor-promoted Telewings are the five companies that will compete for the GSM spectrum in 1800 Mhz band in the auction slated to begin on November 12, according to the Department of Telecom. The government is conducting auction of spectrum in 1800 Mhz band following cancellation of 122 telecom licences by the Supreme Court in February in the 2G scam case. The government aims to garner a total Rs 40,000 crore from the auction of spectrum and levy of other charges on the airwaves. The receipts are important for the government, which is faced with huge task of managing the widening fiscal deficit. RIL (Reliance Industries Limited), Indias largest private sector and the only company to have a PAN India license for broadband services , announced that Ericsson AB will be building, developing and integrating WiFi with its 4G network. Sources who are part of the deal claimed that this would gain ground in Mumbai and Delhi initially and may later reach out to other cities after the launch. Ericson, based on this deal, will set up around 200 WiFi hotspots. They also revealed that the 4G serviceswould roll out in Delhi and Mumbai first in early 2013.
