Box 441906 Fort Washington, Maryland 20749 Message for the Feast of Names (Asm), August 19/20, 2006 Volume 1, Number 4 Dear Friends, The Bahai Communities of Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia, united and connected in their love for Bahaullah, share a Vision of an Inter-Community Bahai Center to serve as a powerful instrument for diffusing the spirit of the Faith, its principles, and its Administrative Order through the systematic work of the successive global and five-year-plans. By the Grace of Bahaullah this vision stepped toward reality in 2001 with the purchase of 43 acres of prime real estate on the shore of the Potomac River, 12 miles south of the U.S. Capitol Building through wide spread devotion to this intercommunity project, donations and personal loans. Inspired by this $1.7M acquisition, the Bahais in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia foresee the rise of a major Center for teaching activities, summer schools, conferences and retreats. The glorious picture of a vibrant future Bahai enterprise on this property moves every Bahai to play a role in the success of this project, which will surely benefit generations yet unborn. This work will be accomplished in steps. Step one is to complete repayment of the personal loans. This will give us clear title to the land. We will continue to develop the meditation trails, prayer stations and gardens, and then as our level of contributions increase and becomes solid and reliable we will erect a Multi-Purpose Building. Over time, God willing, additional features will be erected. Your prayers, support and contributions will assure the reality of this vision.
