I have a problem to connect a Cognex camera with a CPU315 2DP/PN. I configure the PLC and the camera with HWConfig, i use the last version V2.6 for the PLC and the last GSD file for the cognex camera. (you can find it in attachment). I transfert this configuration and before i put the PLC to RUN mode, the SF and BF2 leds was red. In the diagnostic of PLC, i have this event: ID event: 16#596D, adress module: 2044 (it's the adress of controler IO), error: incorrect mode for ProfinetIO, state: stop(internal). but the camera have no error. when i check the ethernet partner, the software see the camera with the good name and the good IP adress. Do you have an idea of my problem? bad GSD, no compatible version,.... Thanks for helps.

(0) Hello Assuming that everything in cognex 5000' configuration is OK, I suggest you to look at Why does the LED BF2 light with PROFINET CPUs S7-315/317-2PN/DP V2.3
even though no bus fault can be determined? Hope this will helps!

(0) Hello, well, the problem might be based upon various reasons, one could be the Ethernet connection, actually how did you connect the PLC to the camera, do you use a Hub, a Switch or a crossover cable? Another question would be, how did you set up the IP Address to the cam? Did you set it up directly and you also set it up in STEP7? Did you tell the PLC to set the IP to the cam? Just to start with. Effectively it is a connection problem: - if i connect the PLC and the camera on the same switch (1) then i have the problem. I told with the network administrator and he tells me that there is no restriction (but i think yes). - i test to connect the PLC through a non manageable switch (2) to the switch 1 and the camera connect to the 1st: no fault, and the communication is ok. - and i test to connect the both device on the non manageable switch 2 and it is ok. Durring this test my PC is always connect on switch 1, i don't modify the IP adress of device; I don't understand what's happen when i connect directly the PLC on switch 1. note: J_Bell, for the camera the configuration of adress IP and name is by the COGNEX Software, I just copy the same value in HWConfig.

I fear the missing link was the information about the managed Switch. I noticed that many managed Switches need to be configured in a special way to allow PROFINET IO traffic to pass. This is due to the priority of the used telegrams. There is the need to allow the Prio 7 to pass the Switch. To do so you mostly need to activate a function like "pass VoIP" or something that allows high prior services, maybe something like IPTV or something like it. Good to know that it works right now.
