Kelty Primary School Christmas Newsletter 2012 So far this has been a really busy start to the term.

What we have been learning and doing? Book Fair We had a very successful book fair. Thanks to everyone for their support. We managed to buy new books for class libraries from the commission we received. Children in Need We raised 266.39 for Children in Need. Thank you for your support. FAB (Friends Against Bullying) Week We had a FABulous week in school. All the children participated well in a variety of activities to promote anti-bullying behaviour. Our Rights Respecting School Committee would like to invite parents/carers into school to share some of this work on Friday 7th December at 9.15am,

Vivian French Kieran Henderson (P4) won the summer reading challenge with Fife Libraries. For his prize we received an author visit from Vivian French. She wrote a story with some children in school. It was a fabulous experience.

St Andrews Day To celebrate St Andrews Day we organised a Scottish House Event. All pupils participated in their houses in Scottish poetry, art, music and dancing. Great fun was had by all and Blairenbathie got

the most house points for participation.


IMPORTANT MESSAGES Walking to School When entering and leaving the school grounds only the front gate should be used. No adults or children should be walking through the school car park. This is for Health and Safety reasons. Morning Snack As we strive to become a health school we would ask that children try to bring a healthy snack. As children only have 15 minutes to eat this snack we would ask that this snack is small. Weather Everyone should have received details about how to receive information if school will be closed due to weather over the coming winter months. Please ensure your child has a suitable outdoor coat preferably with a hood as they will be outside as much as possible during breaks and lunchtimes. DATES FOR DECEMBER Friday 7th December 3pm PTA Christmas Fayre. Come along and the support the PTA. All the children have made arts/crafts to sell for Christmas. Tuesday 11th December Christmas Lunch. Mrs Anderson and her staff will be serving a traditional Christmas lunch. Normal menu will not be available. Wednesday 12th December Pantomime The school will be going to Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy. To ensure we are in Kirkcaldy for 10am start we would appreciate if children could be at school for 8.50am. If you still have not paid for this trip please ensure this is paid for by Friday 7th December. Tuesday 18th December Christmas Nativity P3 children will lead our Nativity in Kelty Parish Church at 11am. Some classes will go to the church to watch them. All parents and the local community are welcome to this performance. Christmas Parties as per previous November newsletter Christmas Holidays school will close for Christmas holidays on Friday 21st December at 12 noon. School re-opens on Tuesday 8th January at 9am for pupils. The staff and pupils at Kelty would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2013. Mrs J Funnell
