Appendix 2 BICC Experience influencing future direction The BICC represented all Users, Owners and Custodians of data across the Retail and Commercial verticals of the Enterprise promoting best practice and reducing duplication, IT effort and business Silo production. Share and help others build on my experience of building a Business Information Competency Centre creating a Return on Data culture with Lean Governance. Seeking opportunities in London UK to help companies develop processes to build on Big Data, and runs a personal Amazon Web Services account and working through Cloudera's Big Data University courses, Google education and Hortonworks Tutorials for Hadoop and MapReduce. Ownership was defined as Customer (that pertaining to the Private and regulated through Data Protection Act), Enterprise Operations (that pertaining to competitive advantage) and Public (that pertaining to aggregated or anonymous data) where value may be derived across the Enterprise both inside and enable revenue to be raised from outside the enterprise. Built a Lean Governance program that was effective but didnt reduce the advantage of agile development. The foundation of the Governance program should be based on Quality Assurance so predicted outcomes have their best chance of succeeding. Enhanced the Data Quality program to be proactive not reactive. Data should be proven to be accurate, up to date and complete. Those with the most at stake with the data should take ownership of the Metadata describing the data so processes can be put in place to measure accuracy and ensure the security of the data by Business value including Enterprise Compliance and Regulatory adherence. Stakeholder management should ensure open, inclusive and fair Collaboration between IT, Business Analysts, Operations, Finance and the Csuite execs focusing innovation driving return on investment delivering Enterprise strategy. Developed Crowdsourcing collaboration with IQJAM and Sharepoint so all knew projects in flight and what it they were trying to achieve. What data is available, who is working with it and what for. Simplify, reduce duplication and encourage innovation. Forged links with suppliers of Cloud services and Hadoop/Mapreduce developers to be able provide solutions that are cost effective, agile and compliant. Recently invited to take part in a panel discussing the role of Big Data in Financial Services at the London Stock Exchange. Blog on the Corporate Challenge of Big Data has been read in 39 countries.
