Did you get the "modified/tampered exe" error message? Then you maybe didn't block exe in firewall and it is now to later to do so without a reinstall. But alot of people also report random CTD errors so you might just be one of the unlucky ones and have to wait for a crackfix/update. The buzz says SKIDROW is working on it. Also always a good idea to update video card driver and directX. Minimum system requirements * OS: Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 * CPU: Pentium 4 2.66GHz OR Sempron 2600+ * RAM: 1 GB * HDD: 22 GB free disk space * Graphics: GeForce 8600 GS or Radeon X1300 256MB * Sound Card: DirectX 9 Compatible * DirectX: Version 9 You can also try this if you know what you're doing and maybe have low memory issues: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=238484

Pretty much the same for me. I get the tampered exe text, even if I unplug my internet before launching after reinstall. I can get 3-5 rounds into the game, then ctd. Valjean Lazy Leecher

Also SKIDROW claims they will release a crackfix soon, but don't know if that's bull or not. They havn't been quite as dependable lately.

As mentioned I found an alternative crack which I now have tested and it seems to work as it should. I atleast got past round 4 without any kind of problem or crashing.

The crack includes a file, steamfucker.dll, which is reported as a threat by some antivirus program. This is likely a false-positive, but you should still use at own risk, although I have used it without problems. by aas82 Sat Apr 14, 2012 5:13 pm ^ as i said, use at own risk and decide for yourself. 50% of antivirus programs mark it as a threat. It's not different than paul.dll from SKIDROW imo. I use it without problems and think it's safe, but don't want to take responsibility for what you do with it. Take it or leave it - it's the only way to play this game atm. Most of the antivirus detect it as an obfuscator of some kind, which is a "malware" that tries to avoid detection via encryption, compression etc, but can also be triggered by steam cracks as they often also use different kinds of injection and obfuscation tactics to fool the game. Are you using the new crack? And if thats the case are you sure steamfucker.dll is not locked by antivirus? You should also run the game with admin rights, block internet access for game and make sure to install all the Redists.

No, but I did a clean install. If you already had the message you might need to reinstall. Have only tried Shogun 2 and Fall of the Samurai for longer time so far though, not Rise...

Do a fresh install, copy the "original" crack, then copy the new crack. BEFORE FIRST START: block "Shogun2.exe" from all internet connections (don't know which firewall you're using, if windows only, go get yourself a real firewall) After that, everything from this side is ready to go. Maybe you need an update on some redist stuff (directx, or what not). BTW: I also got LOOOONG loading when starting a battle, so maybe you just need to wait. But ending a turn is click and go here. You still haven't answered me from when it tried to help you the first time. A little selfhelp goes a long way. 1) Did you install the Redists it asks about after game install (DirectX etc.)? If you didn't go to the Redist folder and install them from there. Even if you think you already have them. 2) Did your antivirus complain about steamfucker.dll? (When applying the new crack from vovan31337) If it did the DLL is most likely still locked despite chosing Allow/Ignore etc. If it did post the name of your antivirus and I'll tell you how to fix it. 3) What video card do you have? Have you updated to the newest driver? 4) You have Win7 right? Did you run game with Run as administrator enabled?

Have you disabled User Account Control (UAC)? 5) Have you blocked game in firewall or disconnected internet before starting game (and during) 6) When it freezes how long have you tried waiting? Can you switch to desktop while frozen? (Click ALT+TAB or Windows-button) I will/can not help you further unless you answer these questions. In regards to your computer it can very likely have broken hardware or installation since you have problems with almost all games. Unless it's just because you fail to read and follow NFO properly. If it's been a long time since reinstall I would consider a full format+clean install if I where you.

It might be your or your computer's CPU but answer the questions. Like 6). If you can switch to desktop, only game and not entire computer is frozen, which doesn't point to CPU. CPU trouble usually lead to computer crash/restart/BSOD or total windows/computer freeze. CPU problems are usually from just a bad CPU, too small CPU (overworked) or overheating (due to overworking and/or poor cooling). Have you checked your computer's peak temperatures?

I think you should read and answer my other questions aswell. Also you have at no point mentioned "windows encountered a problem". That's something comepletely different than a freeze. As last time you claimed that error are you sure it says "windows encountered a problem" and not "xx stopped working" or "xx encountered a problem" where xx is program or DLL. And as I have told you before if you get any of those errors you should be able to get the error details which states which specific object is having problems. Like DirectX DLL, the game EXE etc. But if you get the same error in several games that would point to flawed hardware or installation. If hardware most likely video card, RAM, CPU or motherboard (in that order). If software most likely Windows install, game redist, DirectX or video card driver/software (or UAC). Once again you should answer my earlier questions to single your specific problem out, instead of making suggestions in east and west. Or just make a full format and clean install of everything including Windows and driver (making sure to use the newest ones). Or get someone with computer skills to help you out.
