STEPS TO BECOMING A LEADER

1. INITIAL CONTACT
To find out more about serving with DRIVE Student Ministries, contact Chelsea Hogan at (972) 937-5301) or email her at chelsea@theavenuechurch.com

2. PERSONAL MEETING (INTERVIEW)

An hour spent over lunch or coffee will give our staff a chance to get to know you and you a chance to get to know us. This time will be spent discussing the vision and heart behind our ministry and answering any questions potential leaders might have.

3. VISITS Visit DRIVE (our weekly Wednesday night meeting) to get a

feel for the culture and direction of our team and students. Well also try to help get you connected with another leader so you can observe their Small Group in action.

4. APPLICATION & COVENANT

Turning in the application and covenant will communicate to us that your are 100% on board with Student Ministries. The application will give us information for a required back ground check and will help other Student Ministries staff get to know you. The Covenant clarifies exactly what is expected of our leaders and serves as a form of accountability for our team.

5. MEMBERSHIP & COMMUNITY

It is a value to us for the leaders on our team to be Avenue Church members or pursuing membership at The Avenue. In addition, we would hate to ask anyone to lead a Small Group of students if they aren't first leading by example by being a member of a Life Group of their own.

6. JOIN RANKS!
Once weve had a chance to get to know you and youve decided that God has called you to work with our students, well do our best to work together to find the best fit for you within DRIVE Student Ministries. Most of our leaders lead small groups but there are sometimes other options available depending on the current circumstances and state of our ministry.

FUEL Leadership Covenant

1) I will, to the best of my abilities, attend The Avenue Church on Sundays. 2) As proper for a leader, I do not want to give cause for offense in anything, in order that the ministry be not discredited (1 Corinthians 10:23-33, 2 Corinthians 6:3; Romans 14:13-19), therefore, I will ask myself the following questions when considering an activity and seek to modify my behavior accordingly: -Could it cause the ministry to be discredited? -Could it cause confusion, disillusionment, or disharmony with students, families, or with the other leaders? 3) I commit to a life of moral purity and strive to maintain a conscience void offense to both God and man (Ephesians 5:3, Acts 24:16) 4) I commit to pray for the needs and spiritual vitality of students, leaders, and staff involved with Student Ministries. 5) As a leader, I will strive to multiply my life by active participation in the lives of students with hopes of developing future leaders for ministry. I will attempt to impart not only the gospel of God, but my own life as well. (I Thessalonians 2:8) 6) I will attend the FUEL leadership meetings/events. 7) I will prepare for, and attend my weekly commitments to DRIVE Student Ministries. 8) I commit to growth in my relationship with Jesus Christ and to be spiritually ac countable to others in leadership. 19) If I know of another leader who is not living in congruence with this covenant I will lovingly approach them and, if necessary, go to the leadership of DRIVE Student Ministries.
