Colleges new remote computer environment. Cloud.yc.edu

allows off-campus access to computing resources through a Windows 7 desktop that contains all of the software that is in the YC general computer labs. It's just like you're sitting at a computer on campus, even though you're not! Probably the best thing about using Cloud.yc.edu is that Students, Faculty, and Staff can access ALL of the lab computers applications from off-campus 24 x 7. Here's a list of some of the software that is available when accessing a Yavapai College desktop through Cloud.yc.edu: Microsoft Office 2010 Adobe CS 5 Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Rosetta Stone MathType And more!

Access YC Applications (via VMware View)


Remote access to applications is provided by our Cloud.yc.edu (VMware View) virtual desktop system. You can connect to different "pools" of virtual machines, based on your entitlements, from any internet connected computer. By default, all Yavapai College faculty, staff, and students are entitled to connect to the current Lab Pool (see screen shot below). Windows users: To access the Cloud.yc.edu virtual desktop system, you will need administrative access to the machine you intend to connect from. 1. Simply launch a browser and go to http://cloud.yc.edu Leave the default option of "View Client" selected. "View Client with Local Mode" is not supported and will not be made available for use. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Click Download. Run the installer as administrator. Enter the default Connection Server: cloud.yc.edu and press Next. Follow the onscreen prompts as necessary to complete the installation. Once rebooted, simply double-click the VMware View Client desktop icon:

Mac OS X users: To access the Cloud.yc.edu virtual desktop system, you will need administrative access to the machine you intend to connect from. You MUST install the VMware-viewclient.dmg. This can be downloaded from http://cloud.yc.edu You would use the installed VMware View client to connect to the server address: Cloud.yc.edu When prompted to login, use your YC network credentials. Select the appropriate pool for your current needs (you may only see one or two pools, depending on your entitlement). Click Connect and the View Client will then open in a new window to the virtual machine. When finished with your session, simply close the View Client window or Logout. Disclaimer: Be aware that Cloud.yc.edu can use more than two gigabytes of data per hour. If you are using a connection that has limited data, it is your responsibility to monitor your usage. This means anything you store on them will be gone the next time you use a machine, so save to your Z: drive.
