Please help us with the following issues: PE: on the rare occasion when your child may be in school

but has good reason not to take part in a PE / Games lesson, we ask that you always write a short letter for the attention of your childs class teacher to explain. If a letter is not received then we shall assume that children will be taking part in the full curriculum for that day. Zig Zags: sadly, this is an on-going problem with a few parents still dropping children off directly outside school. I dont want to spend my time marshalling this as I would rather be with the children first thing in the morning. PLEASE make the time and effort to obey this traffic regulation. This rule still applies when pupils are collected after a school club. Dear Parents: we would be grateful for any spare school trousers to be brought into the school office. Congratulations to those who have recently achieved Headteachers Awards: I am delighted to have presented awards to the following children: Trinity Banks, Sebastian Beebee, Oliver Grundy, Millie Holmes, Polly Knight, Emily Lines, Emily Pudge and Ben Williams for excellent story writing.; Max Lavey, Grace Whittall, Amelia Price and Jess Connop for thoughtful reflections following at Class 2 visit to Hereford Cathedral; Ethan Pound and Polly White for demonstrating outstanding hockey skills. Advent This weekend we shall begin the season of Advent; a time of preparation and anticipation. It is a very exciting time in school and we have many events and activities planned in the next three weeks before the end of term. Amidst all the doing, it is also a time for being and reflection it is good to remind ourselves that we are human beings, not human doers ! Our value for December is Peace. I hope and pray that we shall all know Gods peace this Christmas time, a deep peace that is beyond human understanding and is deeper than our fears, disappointments and confusion. So, as we open advent calendars and light candles in our homes, let us take a moment to be still, be thankful and consider how we can bring peace into the situations around us this advent time. Special Advent Events to enjoy together On Sunday 2 December at 6.30pm the KS2 Choir will be singing at the Service of Readings and Music for Advent in Kingsland Church. Dont miss our PTA CHRISTMAS FAYRE with a difference this year! It will be NEXT TUESDAY, 4th December 3.30 5.30pm, held in school with lots of wonderful stalls and food. Please encourage friends and family to come and join the fun with all proceeds for the benefit of school especially fund-raising for an outdoor classroom / shelter. All of Years 1 6 will go to Hereford Courtyard on Wednesday 12th December to enjoy the pantomime, Dick Whittington. Reception children will go off on Santa Safari on Tuesday 11th December. The very first Eardisland Christmas Tree Festival will take place in Eardisland Church over the weekend of 15th and 16th December. Please support this event by calling in at anytime over the weekend; the KS2 choir and musicians will be entertaining between 11am and 12 noon on Saturday 15th and there will be a special service at 6.30pm on Sunday 16th December to which everyone is warmly invited. Years 1 and 2 will be re-telling the wondrous story of Christmas on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th December at 1.45pm in the School Hall. This years nativity play is entitled, Its a Baby. Tickets will be on sale at 2 from the School Office on Monday 3rd December with a maximum of 4 per child. For space and fire safety reasons we cannot allow pushchairs into the hall. The rest of the school and Kingsland Pre-school children will already have seen the play at the dress rehearsal. On Wednesday 19th December we have our Christmas Party; eating a festive meal together in the Coronation Hall, then on to for KS1 games and KS2 quiz before the arrival of a special visitor if weve been good ! There is the chance to sing Carols on the Millennium Green on Wednesday 19th December at 6.00 pm

Then. we shall rejoice together with a Christingle Service in Kingsland Church at 1.30pm on Friday 21st December before breaking up for the Christmas Holidays. Everyone welcome ! Many thanks - for supporting the Poppy Appeal which raised 40.11 - for encouraging your children to pack ninety shoeboxes which are on their way to bring Christmas joy to children in Kazakhstan - for your generous response in terms of cakes and spotty/fun clothes on Children in Need day when 306.33 was raised. We are grateful to our School Council for organising this colourful and worthwhile day in Kingsland Launching a ship and a new hockey tournament Last Friday was an especially exciting day with Years 1 and 2 celebrating the launch of a new play ship on the Millennium Green and Years 5 and 6 playing a first hockey tournament of its kind at Bridge Street Sports Centre. Ship Ahoy ! The Jubilee Princess, was the name chosen by Evie Williams (Class 1)for the splendid new boat that will be the source of many adventures and voyages of discovery. We are all thankful as those who value children and play and imagination for this wonderful addition to the play area on the Millennium Green in Kingsland. The ship was fittingly splashed with water and toasted with elderflower cordial as the ribbon was cut. May God bless all who play in her! Amazing Hockey Experience! On Friday 23rd November, Years 5 and 6 travelled to Bridge Street to play a Hockey Tournament. There were some examples of teamwork, excellence and outstanding performance! We participated and we enjoyed ourselves and now our training with Mr Johnson has really shown that we tried our best even though we did not win. We are extremely grateful to Mrs Daniel, Mrs Hughes, Mr Powell, Mrs Poulter and Mrs Tighe and the supporting parents. By Sophie Campbell and Lucy Austin Aquathalon On 29th November, 17 Kingsland pupils braved the cold to take part in an Aquathalon (swimming followed immediately by a cross country run) at Lucton School. The effort and determination of all children was a pleasure to watch and resulted in Kingsland School coming in 2nd place overall. The outstanding performances of the day were by Danielle McQueen, Fabian Musto in 3rd place, Lily Connop in 2nd and Lucy Austin coming in 1st place in their age categories.
