Dear Families, Every year I am more amazed at the talent within our student body and enjoy seeing them share their talents with students and families. Recently we held our Remembrance Day assemblies which were organized and presented by staff and students. One of our parents had this to say which sums up my thoughts and the feedback received from many parents and staff regarding both assemblies: The organization and presentation of the entire event were superb; it was a most respectful tribute on a most important occasion. It strikes me on such occasions, the important role the arts play in our lives; the assembly today would have been a very different one if it were not for the arts. The arts offer us a way into the emotions of experiences that a lecture or talk or report would not offer. As a poet, I want to make particular mention of the poetry that was very eloquently, and very courageously, shared today. Dance, music, poetry, song, story, visual art, including photographyall were artfully offered. As well, the technical crew, and the pacing by the emcees, made the event run seamlessly. A word also about the audience; from my perspective in the back row, you could not have expected more. Great performances need great audiences; today, Wolfville School delivered both. Please accept, and extend to all students and staff involved, my congratulations and gratitude for this event; they created a space and a time that were both reflective and inspiring. ~John Guiney Yallop~ Thanks to the staff and students responsible for organizing and presenting both the elementary and middle level assemblies. Another job well done! Parent/teacher meetings were held recently and report cards sent home earlier this week. Please remember that school staff appreciates your communication in support of your student, so get in touch any time you have feedback, questions or concerns. Our goal is to provide a quality education in a safe and positive environment and good communication is critical in achieving this goal.

Student Photos These days technology allows us to take photos easily and post them online. For many students and their families this is a regular practice. Others prefer not to have their pictures shared in this way. We appreciate your cooperation and ask that you not post pictures of other students online. Winter Gear Donations As often happens, we get great ideas from parents in our School community. We are seeking parent donations of some spare winter gear - various sizes of hats, mitts, coats, boots, sweaters and scarves. Students sometimes lose, forget, outgrow or cannot afford new gear. If you have any new or used items that you are not using or willing to donate, simply drop off at the elementary or middle level office and we will see that they get to students who can use them. Thank you in advance for your support. The Loving Tree As a reminder, let me share that for those families wishing to give gifts to their teacher during this season of giving, instead please consider making a donation of food or money to the Loving Tree. Donations to the Loving Tree will go to families of Wolfville School who need support. If you have any questions regarding this worthwhile initiative, please contact our offices at the numbers above. Family Fun Night for Elementary Students Lets Get Glowing A Family Fun Night will be held tonight from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. There will be games, dancing and snacks. Students are to be accompanied by an adult. There will be a free will offering in support of Wolfville School.

HOLIDAY CONCERTS DATE CHANGE The elementary Winter Concert will be held on Monday, December 10 at 1:00 pm and not December 5th. The Band Concert will also be held on Monday, December 10 at 7:00 pm. Students should arrive by 6:30 in concert dress (dark bottoms, white tops and band vest). IWK Many thanks to Celine Hambling for leading the Zumba Fundraiser! Both middle school students and elementary students helped raise funds for the IWK. We raised $146.50! Job well done Wolfville School Students and Staff. Our next fundraiser will be Pajama Day on January 23. LOVING TREE We will, once again, have a Loving Tree in the school foyer during December. In support of the Wolfville Area Food Bank we are looking for cans/packages of turkey or chicken gravy and/or monetary donations to go toward the purchase of turkeys. The Food Bank prepares up to 170 Dinner Hampers to support families within our community.

Holiday Bazaar Our annual Holiday Bazaar will be on December 11th! Our Bazaar is a fun event where our library turns into a mini department store! Each elementary student is able to shop for gifts for their immediate family and have them gift wrapped. Students will always receive some change back from their purchases. All of the money raised through this event is given back to families in need at this time of year. Please have a look around your home for like-new items that you would like to donate. Departments we have had in the past are Mom, Dad, Toys, Games, Kitchen, Decorative, etc. No books or toiletries please. Donations can be dropped off at the Elementary office starting on Monday December 3rd. Volunteers are needed for this event! If you are available to help with set up on Dec 10th, or on the 11th with the bazaar, please contact Rhonda Brennan at 5429826 or rhondadoeswhat@hotmail.com Meeting The H & S meeting scheduled for November 29th at 5pm had to be cancelled. SCHOOL CLOSURES Cancellation of all board provided transportation and to keep buses off the highway is a decision made by the Coordinator of Transportation and the Superintendent of School. Starting at 6:00 am, announcements will be broadcast on radio Stations: AVR network, K-Rock, CBC-FM, CHFX/CHNS, CJCH/C-100, News 95.7, ATV News and Weather Network. UNPLANNED EARLY DISMISSALS In the event that Wolfville School closes early due to the weather or an unforeseen event, we will be contacting parent/guardians or emergency contacts that you have noted on the student registration form. Calls will only be made for students from primary to grade 5. Please remember to inform the office of updated phone numbers throughout the year. PRIMARY GRADE 3 Skating Dates Students in Grades Primary to 3 will once again this year go to the Acadia Rink to skate. The following are the dates for skating for students in grades primary to 3. January 10, 17 and 31 February 7, 14 and 21. Students will leave the school at 9:00 am and skate from 9:30 to 10:30. February 28 has been booked as an alternate date if we should have a storm day. A skate waiver will go home with your child. Please complete it and return it to the elementary office by Monday, December 10. If your child is in need of skates, please bring your child to the elementary office. We have skates available. At Wolfville School, we believe that all students should be able to participate fully in school. We are pleased to have a LIFE benevolent fund to assist with specific student needs related to learning. This fund is used to ensure that no student is prevented from participating fully in their classes or school-based experiences because of their financial situation. It is only through the generous financial support of local businesses and residents that the LIFE fund can exist. The Annapolis Valley Chapter of Autism Nova Scotia is

offering two after school Music Therapy programs for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The sessions will be led by Brenda Johnson, MEd Counselling, MTA, a qualified Music Therapist and Counselling Therapist who has experience with autism at all ages. Brendas strength based approaches combined with the elements within the music create a safe and playful environment to facilitate therapeutic goals while providing a positive social experience.
