Pre-commissioning and commissioning activities to be carried out for Line and Neutral side cubicles.

Before starting of Pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, the concerned engineer shall first read and understand the INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR ERECTION, COMMISSIONING & MAINTENANCE OF LINE & NEUTRAL SIDE CUBICLES and shall perform the activities as specified in the Instruction manual. The brief descriptions of Pre-commissioning and commissioning activities are as follows.

PRE-COMMISSIONING ACTIVITIES 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Check position and Installation of Line & Neutral side cubicle on foundation is proper or not. Check mechanical damages. Check power cable connections and terminations. Measure insulation resistance of individual phases by megger prior to joining them together. Check grounding/ earthing connections. Check marshalling box wiring and control cable connections. Check electrical clearances of connections. Check torques of all connections to specified values. Temporarily close inspection openings to prevent contamination or entry of foreign matter into Line & Neutral side cubicle. Make sure that no foreign objects are inside of Line & Neutral side cubicle.

COMMISSIONING & TESTING ACTIVITIES 1. Check if electrical connections of all following component of Line & Neutral side Cubicle are installed correctly. a. Check Current transformer (CT) for the continuity, visual polarity marking, wire connection & High voltage withstand (2.5kV for one minute) of CT secondary terminals. Check for the continuity of VT secondary terminals & wire connection. Check for the continuity of NGR of all the terminals. Check for the continuity of Surge capacitor & Lightning Arrestor terminals.

Check of dielectric test on Line & Neutral side Cubicle (main circuit)

Check for the insulation resistance between all the bus bars and earth (i.e. enclosure) with 1000V megger and adaptable value for the same shall be 2000 MW. Check the high voltage withstand test at (75% of rated insulation voltage for one minute) between all the bus-bars and earth (i.e. enclosure). Check the High voltage withstands test at 2.5kV for one minute and continuity test of all control, Space heaters & Thermostat wiring.

Verify that no parts or tools are being left inside the cubicle. Remove, if any. Check paint and touch-up damaged surfaces, if necessary. Verify electrical air clearances: a. b. Between terminals and bus-bars. Between phases and enclosures throughout the entire Line & Neutral side cubicle.

Check for damage of Insulators on intermediate piece on supporting structure. Check all bolted connections for correct torque of a. b. c. d. All Bus-bar joints and terminations. Supporting structure/ foundation bolts. Flexible leads. Inspection covers.

Verify that all inspection covers are mounted. Verify that all temporarily fixed aids and other provisionally used equipment have been removed and stored for future use, if applicable. Verify that all components are installed and mounted as described. Verify that electrical connections are established as described.

TOOLS REQUIRED
1. TOOLS TO BE CARRIED BY ENGINEER.

Electrical Digital analyzer (for measurement of voltage, current, continuity test etc.)

2. TOOL REQUIRED FROM CUSTOMER END.

Commercially available tools (e.g. wrenches, spanners, screwdrivers) Torque wrench (with torque 100 Nm) with an allen key insert. Electrical Digital analyzer (for measurement of voltage, current, continuity test etc.) Measuring and checking devices (e.g. a feeler gauge). High Voltage testing kit (min 75kV) Megger (1000V).
