Course Title:

Basic Scaffold Inspection

Scope (Target Audience)


The Course is designed for Site Supervisors, Managers and people who are responsible for inspecting scaffolds.

Objective
At the end of the course the delegate should be able to demonstrate an understanding of

Scaffolding components. Scaffolding materials. Scaffolding terminology. Scaffolding defects. Identify the different types of basic scaffolding. Scaffolding inspection procedures. Record keeping requirements.

Assessment Theory
There will be interactive class discussion and verbal questioning throughout each lesson. There will be five written examinations during the course in the form of a multiple choice paper, there will be 5 questions to each test paper, on which there will be not less than 4 possible answers to each question. The questions and answers will be written using simple English language to be easily understood by persons who do not use English as a first language.

Assessment Practical
There will be two practical inspection sessions during which the delegates will be given training on identifying defects, and then required to identify defects on their own. Competency The course is a competency based course and therefore delegates will be required to demonstrate competency by means of theory multi choice tests and practical inspection skills. Delegates will be given feedback on progress during the course as well as being notified at the end of the course if they are competent.

Certification (Approvals)
The course is run to CITB standards by CITB qualified and approved instructors.

Administration, registration and emergency procedures. Legislation, Regulations and Codes of Practice. Scaffold components. Scaffold terminology, Materials, their uses and Defects. Independent Tied Scaffolds and Putlog Scaffolds. Practical inspection of Independent Tied and Putlog Scaffolds. Safe Working Practice in the use of Ladders. Selecting the correct Fall Arrest Equipment. Scaffold Ties and Foundations. Birdcage Scaffolds and Mobile Tower Scaffolds. Practical Inspection of Birdcage Scaffolds and Mobile Tower Scaffolds. Loading Bays, Working Platforms and Assessing the Safe Working Load. Inspection Requirements and Record Keeping.

Held at Qatar International Safety Centre Premises, Doha, Qatar. Or clients own premises (if suitable) if preferred.
