A206SE Communications and Networ s

Design a terrestrial microwave radio communication lin connecting two points. T he first point should be anywhere in Singapore and the second point should be in a location to be identified by your lecturer. The design should be supported by appropriate computations of losses and gains in the signal path, and should be able to prove that the receiver will be receiving enough power as stated in its specification sheets. Consider the following factors into your design: Transmitter and receiver power specifications Transmission line (from amplifier to antenna) losses Antenna gain Effects of atmosphere and terrain between the two points Frequency of operation should be ta en from any of the recommended band assigned by IDA (Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore) The two points need to be identified using any available online mapping service (e.g. google maps) and frequency of operation is to be given to your lecturer no t later than the end of wee 5. The web lin for the two points and the frequenc y of operation needs to be posted in the forum, in a thread that your lecturer w ill create in a sub-topic under your module. Submit a 1,000 word academic report providing a discussion on the chosen design guided by the report outline given below. Report Outline for Problem 2

NOTES: 1. Each report should follow the standard format, consisting of a. Coursewor Mar sheet b. Title Page c. Declaration of Originality d. Abstract e. Content Page f. Main Report (See report outline of each coursewor ) g. References h. Turnitin report 2. Each report should be printed using Times New Roman, size 12; 1-1/2 line spacing; 1 inch margin on all sides of the paper. 3. Do not use first person in your report (no I, me, us, we). Use third person ive statements and passive voice. (e.g. all of the tests gave the same outcome) 4. Avoid the use of jargon. The report should be written in academic form. 5. Citations and references should be used in the report. Use Harvard refer encing. 6. Each coursewor needs to be submitted to Turnitin for similarity chec . 7. The class id and password will be provided later by your lecturer. 8. A report which does not meet the style and format specification will not be accepted for mar ing. It will be returned to the student and a mar of 0% re corded. If in any doubt about whether the wor meets the style and format speci fication, see advice from the module leader. 9. To avoid duplication of products, present a proposal to your lecturer be fore starting with your report.
