You May Be Wondering...

I must admit that I am not a very good dancer. Does that matter?
Trust us, many of your fellow Dance Teams are in the same boat. Rest assured that skill and
grace are NOT required…just the desire to have fun, raise money, and help cure canine cancer!
In fact, you'll be both entertained and instructed on various types of dances by specially invited
professionally trained dancers... you'll leave the event an even better dancer than when you
arrive!

Is there an age requirement for dance teams?

Not really. All age dancers are both invited and encouraged to participate. However, dancers
under the age of 16 must have a parent or guardian present at the Dancers Against Canine
Cancers event at all times.

How long will we actually be dancing during the event?

Although Dancers Against Canine Cancers is officially scheduled for eight hours (8 am 4 pm),
the duration of the dance marathon is six hours (9 am - 3 pm). During that time period, each
Dance Team will be given two 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch break. So your time on
the dance floor will be a total of five hours.

That doesn't sound too bad, but what if I can't physically dance for that long?
We've thought of that! Your registration form allowed for a total of four dancers who may
alternate on the dance floor throughout the event.

What will I be able to do during my breaks and “non-dancing” time?

You will not be wanting for things to keep you occupied! As a Dancers Against Canine Cancers
dancer, you will have unlimited access to the beautiful scenery, flora, fauna and animals present
throughout The Phoenix Zoo. We're planning an incredible silent auction that you'll no doubt
want to do some bidding on. Or, just relax in the special dancer's lounge.

Do I have to bring lunch, or will there be something to purchase?

We will be serving you a sumptuous lunch and providing beverages to you all day to keep your
energy up (and costs down!).

Why did our team need to pay a non-refundable/non-transferable $50 registration fee?
Due to space considerations, we can only accommodate 100 dance teams on a first-come, first-
served basis. Your deposit essentially guarantees your team's spot so you're not left out of the
Dancers Against Canine Cancers experience. The good news is that this $50 is applied to your
initial $1,000 commitment, so your team only has another $950 to go!

The National Canine Cancer Foundation • www.WeAreTheCure.org • 1-866-262-0542

You May Be Wondering... (cont’d)

I know that my Dance Team has committed to raising $1,000 on behalf of the National Canine
Cancer Foundation, but are we expected to raise it on our own?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! NCCF is here to help you every step of the way!
! We will guide you through the process of setting up your online fundraising page.
! We will provide a template for a fundraising letter.
! Our Event Coordinator, Eileen Proctor (DACC@WeAreTheCure.org) will be sending you
periodic e-mails with creative suggestions for your own fun and simple fundraising events!

Isn't it going to be difficult to raise that much money?

Not really. It all comes down to one thing… ASK! Ask friends, family, co-workers, neighbors:
anyone who has ever put the bite on you for girl scout cookies, magazine subscriptions or any
other fundraising drive.
Don't think of it as $1,000. Admittedly, that can seem rather daunting. Think of it as 10 people (or
companies) each giving you $100, or 20 people each giving you $50, or 50 each giving you $20
each. Sounds a little easier, doesn't it?! But it all starts with the “ask”!

When you say it that way, it DOES sound quite doable! May we raise more than $1,000?
OF COURSE! We encourage you to raise as much as possible. As an incentive, valuable prizes
will be awarded for Dance Teams raising the most monies!

How and when do our donors actually pay?

To streamline the process, we advise that you collect your donor's pledges at the same time that
they make them. By the way, the National Canine Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)3 non profit
organization so pledges are tax deductible (as permitted by law).
! Pledges made by check should be made out to National Canine Cancer Foundation
! Pledges made by credit card (Amex, Visa, MC & Discover) should be made directly on
your online fundraising page.

What is this online fundraising page you're referring to?

It's an online giving platform and website that will make fundraising fun and easy! After you have
registered your team, we will be in contact with you to provide information about how to set up
and optimize use of your online fundraising page. Then you'll be able to send a link to these
pages to friends and family who can then donate securely online.

You May Be Wondering... (cont’d)

When does our team hand in our check and cash pledge monies?
Record all donor pledges, regardless of how they are funded (check, credit card or cash) on your
Dance Team Pledge Forms. That form, along with all checks and cash, should be handed in
during registration on the morning of April 4 at the Dancers Against Canine Cancers event. If you
want to hand in your pledge monies before then, contact Event Organizer Eileen Proctor at 1-
866-262-0542 ext. 6 or DACC@WeAreTheCure.org.

Can our family and friends attend Dancers Against Canine Cancers?
We were hoping you'd ask! The answer is YES! In fact, we hope you will encourage them to
come and root you on, enjoy the music, participate in the silent auction, and tour the beautiful
Phoenix Zoo! However, they will need to purchase regular admission to the Zoo for $16 on the
day of the event OR preferably, one of NCCF's special combo tickets for only $40 which
includes:
! admission and access to the Phoenix Zoo for the entire day
! a commemorative Dancers Against Canine Cancers t-shirt
! a sumptuous lunch at Dancers Against Canine Cancers
These special combo tickets are available online at www.WeAreTheCure.org/DACC.

How will my family and friends know where to go when they arrive?
In addition to highly visible signage guiding participants and guests of Dancers Against Canine
Cancers to the Stonehouse Pavilion, NCCF will have a special table at the main entrance of the
Zoo and a number of greeters and guides to ensure they find their way to the fun!

Do you have any ways for my friends and relatives outside of the Phoenix area to participate
in Dancers Against Canine Cancers?
We assume that you mean they want to participate in addition to making a pledge for your Dance
Team! And the answer is YES! Direct them to the NCCF Dancers Against Canine Cancers
website, www.WeAreTheCure.org/DACC where they can:
! dance in the country's largest line dance ever… in the form of a virtual onLine Dance!
! Purchase raffle tickets, t-shirts, magnets and other promotional products
! Honor a beloved pet with a pink paw
For details on all of the above, go to www.WeAreTheCure.org/DACC.
There are also a number of different Dancers Against Canine Cancers available for companies
and individuals ranging between $500 - $5,000. For details, request the Sponsorship
Opportunities brochure or go to www.WeAreTheCure.org/DACC.

We want this to be a fun and stress-free experience. If you have any questions at any time
leading up to the event on April 4, do not hesitate to contact Event Organizer Eileen Proctor
at 1-866-262-0542 ext. 6 or DACC@WeAreTheCure.org.

About The National Canine Cancer Foundation

Canine Cancer is robbing us of our beloved

companions at an unacceptable rate. Mots pet owners find
their dog has cancer when it’s too late for successful
treatment. Here are some other disturbing facts about
Canine Cancer:

! Cancer is the #1 natural cause of death in dogs

! One of three (1 of 3) dogs will get cancer and
50% of those will die of the disease
! One of the worst hit breeds are Golden Retrievers
with 65 - 75% dying of cancer
! 10,000 new cases of Osteosarcoma in dogs are
diagnosed every year in the United States alone

The National Canine Cancer Foundation is a nationwide, contribution funded, 501(c)3 non-
profit corporation dedicated to finding accurate, affordable diagnostic methods to detect cancer
in dogs at an earlier stage, find better treatments, and ultimately find a cure for cancer in dogs.

The purpose of the Foundation’s Research Grant Program is to encourage and provide grant
support for basic, pre-clinical and clinical research in high impact and innovative cancer research,
which is intended to develop innovative approaches to a cure, treatment, diagnosis or prevention of
cancers in dogs. The program fosters collaboration between basic and clinical scientists with the
intent of enhancing the transfer of basic research findings to clinical usefulness.

Just As Importantly...
through a major project funded by the National Institute of Health, the mapping of the genome
sequence of the dog has been completed. Knowing the mapping of every gene in the dog, gives
researchers an advantage not yet achieved in humans.

It goes to follow...
once we have cures for cancer
in dogs, it gets us that much
closer to finding them for humans!
